By the cost you state, you are not using an Onan pump which is ok with me. Way over priced. I assume you bought on Amazon. I bought a genuine filter.

Excellent troubleshooting that makes sense. Very methodical and clear. This is the best video on this topic. How does that sound when it doesn't stop? ;)

I removed my Onan and now I run a small and quiet portable, 4500W. Uses only 20% of the fuel the Onan did and now I carry an additional 20 gallons of water in its place.

About to do a filter and pump replacement, you made it look simple! In reading the comments of others I see a couple relocated the pump and filter "for easy replacement" in the future. Does anyone have a picture of where you relocated it?

Thank you! These things are finicky! I just had to do the starter in mine (with the help of a mobile RV repair guy - and it took both of us). Now having an issue with starting. Fuel pump is good, spark is good. This is the next thing to check. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the video. Gave me the confidence that I needed to do the job. After replacing the pump I couldn’t get the regulator board back in. Watching the video again I saw how your wires were routed. Put it back together based on that ,and success. Runs great. Your video gets a 10 from me!!

Thanks a lot. We have Cummins Onan OG 4.0 Gasoline RV Generator | 4.0KYFA-26100. The problem is that the generator does not turn on even though the bus is on. Does anyone know how to solve it? Thank you

And yes there is noise Oman 2500 runs like a top and it runs off propane with out a idle wide open all the time. I want a super quite inverter generator with a smart throttle that only runs for what calls for because a light bulb will not even make come off idle like the Hondas have the best for the money and it’s a 7000 inverter generator that has everything I was talking about. But I don’t need one that big for my camper but for home it would be fantastic.

Interestingly the manual for the og 4000 doesn't mention the breaker. They say ther may be an external breaker that is hidden somewhere. I wasted a lot of time before finding your video.

So isn't there jets inside the carburetor that also need to be cleaned?
@JoeHall-c9f3 ай бұрын
Great video. Can you help me troubleshoot a 02 Onan microlite 2800? It was running great and stopped. It was a cracked fuel line from the fuel filter to the carburetor. After replacing it the generator didn't start. I removed the spark plug and while I was cranking it had no spark until I released the starter switch and it sparked once. I cranked it once again with the same result. Please help or advise me

Hi there, I love the video. Thorough and awesome. One question though... you left the "big cable" connected as it was long enough to leave so. Ours is not however. There is no more than a few inches of spare cable. How would I disconnect this? At house end or generator end, and is this a live wire that needs any special handling? Thanks!
@rvknowhow3 ай бұрын
Good evening and thanks for the comment. The large cable is the you are talking about is the power cable from the generator to the house. As long as you are not plugged into shore power this should not be live (but always good to check with a multimeter before disconnecting) You would disconnect from inside the generator. Follow it in and you will see a Hot - Neutral and ground. Just disconnect them after testing they are not live and pull them to one side

Great Video!!! I also had spark, fuel and air. Checked and verified via your first video. I even changed the spark plug just to be sure. But still it will only crank but not start. This video helped me identify and clean out my stuck check valve. Now it turns on super easy. Thank you for the best video out there!!

Do you have a link for the parts handy? The correct fuel pump and filter? I have the same generator.
@rvknowhow3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment, I haven't put a link in the description due to link expiring. I don't use the OEM parts for the pump and filter, not worth the extra cost in my opinion (other people may feel different of course) I usually buy from eBay or Amazon. Let me share my past purchase with you and see if it is still active
