first time viewer, like your camera presence and easy music, you have some great ideas going small definitely a finesse presentation for the profile, take it up a notch and add maribou as an option for movement lots of options with the jig head molds out there. I've utilized lots of color contrasts and material for the different look been using UV RESIN to seal thread eyes and head for a smooth look still in the probie stage but liking results, SALLY HANSEN been on my desk for a couple years,appreciate your videos keep them coming.

I like this hair jig. I am always looking at flies and trying to add them to small jigheads. Also, a hank of hair is a new term I am using. 😂

Great video. I have fished bucktails for flounder, and spotted trout in the surf. And have tied similar round head jigs from crappie. But I really liked the look of the minnow head. Thanks for the tip!

Mike, I disagree with you. Tenkara is the best way to fish! 😂 I think it's very cool that are are for the most part doing traditional tenkara this year! My first year was a struggle, but I needed that struggle to grow. Now I just fish a couple of kebari and beadheads and don't really even think about it too much. I just fish. I personally have done it enough where the tenkara rod feels like an extension of my body. That being said, I am still a novice tenkara angler and am always learning. I will never master it, but will always try. I do agree with you in that when I am tenkara fishing, that is the only time my mind doesn't wonder and I am laser focused for a quick hookset! I may have missed something bc you both covered a ton. Good interview and who is Danial Garado? 😂 JK

@FishermanCrossing , you're going to have to unlearn this concept you have of Tenkara being a questionable fly fishing style. Fixed line Fly Fishing is the very foundation of modern fly fishing. The first book in the English language about fly fishing was written in 1496 and by a fixed line angler. It continues from there all the way untill the late 1800's. There are images in the Library of Congress of people fixed line fly fishing in the late 1800's here in the US after the Civil War. Ultimately, fixed line fly fishing, from its first mention in 2AD in Macedonia, till this very day has never seen a space of time in which it wasn't practiced by one culture or another on our planet. It is a world sport. The fact that it still persists to this day is a testament to how enjoyable it can be, but also how effective it is at catching fish. It is the OG Fly Fishing. Cheers yall. Enjoyed listening in.

I don't want to speak out of turn by making presumptions for Mike, but I wouldn't say either of us think of it as a "questionable" style, rather than as a style with 'specific' limitations. BUT here's the thing: All fishing styles have limitations! Much in the same way that boats are generally designed for a specific environment, so are rods, lines, tackle and techniques. I don't think that any of us would go so far as to say Sir Izaak Walton would've snubbed his nose at a reel, or that the anglers of the Scottish Lochs dapping double mayflys in the wind wouldn't have used livescope. We can embrace technology (like telescopic graphite instead of bamboo or wood) and still embrace the traditions of angling. Provided we "just go fish" as Mike was saying near the end.

You absolutely should have a goal if you want to improve. But also so you can finally decide what your game is, what really makes you happy. Good luck and enjoy the process.

Thanks! It’s probably easier to let go and be ok with someone else ‘charting the course’ since I’d already walked the alternative (by closing the business.) But I am glad too.

Great catch and that waterway looks awesome...
@fishermancrossing Жыл бұрын
It really is awesome. It doesn’t get the trash or industrial runoff that most of the waterways in town here get. It’s also got a fair bit of variety. Upstream of this stretch it’s flat and grassy and downstream you get more of that quasi-canyon closed in feel.

That's a deadly little lure! Anything with a little hackle and flash cnd really do some damage!

Thanks Brian/Jon! I completely agree. We’ve actually spun this one off into it’s own line called Point1 Spinners. It’s single hook and barbless now, but still does a great job at keeping them pinned. The hook point sinks easily and because it’s light it doesn’t give much inertia to pendulum out on head shakes. I was glad to hear the single hook conventional convo come up with Kelly Galloup on your most recent interview. It lends a lot more credence to me saying what I say when a legend is saying it too.
