I wonder if this is the reason Maddie Wachowski's sister hates Tom.

There should have been a spin off sitcom about these 4 sisters. That I should show I would watch.

Hah. I wish my family would tell me not to marry someone I'm in love with. I can understand if he's a bad man with faulty intentions, but if he's a good man with genuine intentions, I don't give a damn if he's white as snow , if I'm in love with him , I'll be sure to love him out loud in front of anyone who has a side eye. I'll be sure to give you something to look at.

GUYS, HEY, why all the political discourse here?! This is supposed to be a clip about what we can ALL do to make the world a better place for all 8 billion people who live within it, not blame anyone or any group of people for the problems that still exist. Yes it’s true that there are people out there who want to harm the world for their own gain, but when they do they have to be held accountable for their actions regardless of political affiliation, religion, skin color, race, mother tongue, wealth, power, identity, age, height, attraction, mindset and otherwise. No exceptions, that’s true for all of us.

Sadly Vy has become the exact thing she was a victim of. Racist. She may not admit it she may not like it, she may be pitiful because her becoming racist herself was not in her intention but she is racist. She strengthens the whole racism thing by being a coward and not like her sister and her white husband who tell the Bigots. ‚Screw you‘. Vy has given up and this is the worst she could do. It’s hard, it unfair but you can’t give up because else you would play in the enemy‘s hand. This coming from someone who experiences discrimination on a daily basis.

Obviously Vy felt the need to protect Janice because Vy was the oldest sister and Janice was the youngest. But since neither Aunt Viv nor Helen nor any of the men in the Banks family gave Janice the third degree about marrying Frank because of Frank’s and Janice’s different ethnicities, Vy should have taken the high road and let Janice make her own decisions as the grown woman that she was. And at least try and get to know Frank first before writing him and the marriage off altogether.

Neither side is wrong to a certain extent And Marge herself stated to Will, things are better enough for the future to take advantage of their opportunities to fight for the cause in education, in voting, in the law, etc. Protest and radical action are when those options run out Too much of it at the wrong time does more harm than good This episode teaches how things were necessary in the days of the Civil Rights movement But in modern times, they’re options to work within the system It’s true the system is still broken, but the principles it represent are still worth fighting for It’s hard to decide what’s the right thing to do nowadays, but we can look to moments like this to remind us what direction to take

The irony of her saying some bigot wouldn't see the beauty in their marriage when that's exactly what she's being. A racist bigot. This episode really made me dislike her character especially considering I'm in the exact relationship being scrutinized here. I know she has a change of heart at the end but that doesn't absolve her of the bigotry she showcased throughout this episode.

Not marrying outside your race does have its benefits, and those benefits outweigh everything. Both families would have difference in culture, and in some cases, both families won’t be able to speak the same language. Different cultures also has different values. Im defly not racist or discriminatory, but marrying within your own race is much easier for you and everybody else. Also, love is built, not obtained at first sight lol.

I'm of both sides presented in this clip. On the one hand, Aunt Viv is completely right. Radical work is a lot more complex, messy, and administrative than simply going out into the streets, raising your fist in resistance, and shouting a buncha slogans.... ...but Marge is also right in the sense that the system doesn't work in the long run. A few black billionaires and businesses ain't gonna get us to liberation. Sometimes, you DO have to blow the door down. Now, this is not me saying that anybody who doesn't want to blow the door down is a sellout or uncommitted to the struggle; just trying to demonstrate how this show seems to be taking a certain side, i.e. promoting the idea that black billionaires and more black people gaining positions in the same system that is oppressing them is liberation, rather than a complete dismantling of that system.

I liked this episode because it portrays differences of opinions. What you were and who you are now. Great writing. But when I look at the political message, you wanna blow the door down but you can easy become just as corrupt as the previous owners. Marge was the short term reformist unable to really see the damage she caused and living in the past. Uncle Phil works through the system and has probably seen all manner of cases both good and bad from all races, and he's not ashamed to earn a paycheck from it helping his family. He sees that having a happy family might be the best change you can give to the world. This episode is also with all it's themes a story about marriage vs single hood.
