I love this show and seeing all the 30’s - late 50’s cars and trucks are great, takes me back to many happy days spent at old car shows like the one in Hershey P.A. With my dad growing up. This was the kind of show my father always liked. He was a ww2 vet and a real law and order trust the police type. Right up until the time when I was in high school and he got stopped for a loud muffler and a miserable little town constable violated his and my 4th amendment rights by ordering us out of the truck and searching it without a warrant and even making us turn out our pockets. After I pointed out what had just happened to us dad wasn’t too happy and when we went to court for the ticket not only was the ticket thrown out but the little prick was fired. A lawyer wanted my dad to sue the town but he said it would only be taking money out of his neighbors pocket and he wouldn’t do that. We settled for a public apology, a story in the local paper about how easy it had become to allow your rights to be violated and a small settlement from the constables own liability insurance. Like I said this show is great but it also highlights in several episodes how cops then and now are the same when it comes to blatantly violating people’s constitutional rights and how the media and television has always aided in making it become ingrained in the public mind that their tyrannical behavior was somehow not only ok but even right or necessary! Remember people it’s a very rare thing when the ends actually justify the means. As Benjamin Franklin said it is better to let 100 guilty men go that to cause one innocent man to suffer the violation of his rights!
