I bought my first two nice mandolins from that store when I lived on Monroe, Ga. Both were Flatirons. One of em got stolen while in the trunk of my 85 Buick Lesabre. I bought the other one with the insurance money which I played for 12 years before my obsession with Duff F5s. I sold it to a buddy who still has it. Calls it “road dog.” Is this store still around?

Got me one in a trade a year ago love it ,it needs a couple of frets replaced ,finger slips off fretboard on a D shape due to the taper being incorrect (( too much ) towards the edge of the fretboard

How does the mahogany ll16 stack up against the rosewood variant? Whats your preference?

I liked the sound of the 35 better, the 36 sounded like it slightly didn’t have that punch the 35 did

Interesting sound, very open and resonant, it really sings. On the other hand there’s a metallic edge to it sort of like a steel guitar or something that I’m less keen on.

Thanks for a well done serious comparison! Here in Sweden it is hard even to find a banjo in a store. Liked the sound of the 36 better. Made my mind up because of that . And also because of the glossy finish on the 36 compared to 35 (silly I know). 🙂

JAKE! You've posted THE BEST YT vid illustrating the variety of beautiful sounds one can get out of the Sierra if they can play as well as you do here! Absolutely beautiful playing and sound. BTW - I just bought a barely used Sierra in mahogany 3 hours ago for an amazing price! It'll be a life-long friend. Cheers!
