This song legitimately makes me cry sometimes. Every now and again, I'll sing along to this while I drive to work in the morning, and it just makes me more and more grateful for my life. God is so good to me. 🥲

A splendid hymn of thanks and praise to our Saviour , Jesus Christ. Thank you Gary Green for providing the remainin two verses. In my view the sixth verse is a beautiful statement of anticipation of meeting Jesus face to face on a coming day,. (Just a small correction - the second line should refer to "his lofty throne" )

This was my grandmother's favourite hymn. Some 300+ people, mostly Methodists, sang it at her funeral; and I know that she and the heavenly choirs were singing with us. Mary Shekleton wrote two more verses which are not recorded here. They are verses four and six. But though I cannot sing or tell or know the fulness of thy love while here below, my empty vessel I may freely bring, O thou who art, of love, the living spring my vessel fill. And then, when Jesus face to face I see, when at his loft throne I bow the knee, then of his love, in all its breadth and length, its height and depth, its everlasting strength, my soul shall sing!

'Come unto Me, ye weary, And I will give you rest. O gracious voice of Jesus, Which comes to hearts oppressed; It tells of free forgiveness, Of pardon, life, and peace, Of joy that has no ending, And love which cannot cease. 'Come unto Me, ye wanderers, And I will give you light' O loving voice of Jesus, Which comes to cheer the night; Our hearts were filled with sadness, And we had lost our way; But morning brings us gladness, And songs the break of day. 'And whosoever cometh I will not cast him out. O welcome voice of Jesus Which drives away our doubt: Which calls us, wayward sinners, Unworthy though we be Of love so free and boundless, To come, dear Lord, to Thee.

Give me the faith which can remove And sink the mountain to a plain; Give me the child-like praying love Which longs to build Thy house again; Thy love, let it my heart o'erpower, And fill me from this very hour. I would the precious time redeem, And longer live for this alone, To spend, and to be spent, for them Who have not yet my Saviour known; Fully on these my mission prove, And only breathe, to breathe Thy love. My talents, gifts and graces, Lord, Into Thy blessed hands receive, And let me live to preach Thy Word, And let me to Thy glory live; My every sacred moment spend In publishing the sinners' Friend. Enlarge, inflame and fill my heart With boundless charity divine: So shall I all my strength exert, And love them with a zeal like Thine; And lead them to Thy open side, The sheep for whom their Shepherd died.

Thou great mysterious God unknown, Whose love has gently led me on, E'en from my infant days, Mine inmost soul expose to view, And tell me if I ever knew Thy justifying grace. Short of Thy love I would not stop, A stranger to the Gospel hope And sense of sin forgiven; I would not, Lord, my soul deceive, Without a true assurance live, That foretaste now of Heaven. Whate'er obstructs Thy pardoning love My wilfulness or pride - remove, Thy glory to display; My heart of unbelief convince, And now forgive me all my sins, And take them all away. Father, in me reveal Thy Son, And to my inmost soul make known How merciful Thou art: The secret of Thy love reveal, And by Thy Holy Spirit dwell For ever in my heart.

When God revealed His gracious name, And changed my lost estate, I seemed transported in a dream, The grace appeared so great! When those around me saw the change Pervading all my ways, They owned a work of power strange, And mused upon Thy grace. The Lord can clear the darkest skies, And give us day for night, Cause tears of sacred sorrow rise To rivers of delight. Though Gospel seed lies long in dust, Our prayerful hopes remain; That living Word can ne'er be lost, Nor ever preached in vain. Let all who sow in longing, wait, Till Thy sure blessings come; For soon shall we, with sheaves so great, Return rejoicing home. (Psalm 126)

With glorious clouds encompassed round, Whom angels dimly see, May God, th'Unsearchable, be found? Will He appear to me? Would He forsake His throne above, Himself to us impart? Come, teach us from Thy Word of love, And move in every heart! In manifested love explain Thy wonderful design, That brought the suffering Son of Man, To shed His blood divine. Didst Thou not in our flesh appear, And live and die below, That we may now perceive Thee near, And our Redeemer know? Come now, and to our souls reveal That dear disfigured face, The wounds which all my sorrows heal, The heights and depths of grace. O Saviour, in Thy person show, Our Sovereign crucified! And then the pardoning God we'll know, And feel Thy blood applied.

So let our lips and lives express The holy Gospel we profess; So let our works and virtues shine, To prove the doctrine all divine. Thus shall we best proclaim abroad The honours of our Saviour God, When His salvation reigns within, And grace subdues the power of sin. Our flesh and sense must be denied, Passion and envy, lust and pride; While justice, temperance, truth and love Our walk of righteousness approve. The Gospel bears our spirits up, While we expect that blessèd hope, The bright appearing of the Lord; And faith stands leaning on His Word.

Loosed from my God, and far removed, Long have I wandered to and fro, Through life in endless circles round, Not finding peace and rest below: To Thee, my God, at last I fly, O bless me, Saviour, now draw nigh. Selfish pursuits and pleasure's maze, The things of earth, for Thee I leave; Stretch forth Thy pardoning hand of grace, And my lost life to Thee receive; Take this unstable soul of mine, And make it, Saviour, ever Thine. Fill me with life, and love, and peace, Stablish and keep my settled heart; In Thee may all my wanderings cease, From Thee no more may I depart; Thy utmost kindness may I prove, Loved with an everlasting love!

That God the Lord is ever nigh, Though veiled in awesome majesty, His mighty works declare! His hand the universe upholds, His eye the peopled world beholds With providential care. The Lord sets up; the Lord pulls down; To Him the monarch owes his crown, The conqueror his wreath; In Him all creatures live and move; He reigns supreme in Heaven above, And in the earth beneath. Great King of kings, and Lord of lords, Whose hand chastises and rewards, Thee only we adore; To Thee the voice of praise shall rise, In hallelujahs to the skies, When time shall be no more. (Psalm 75)

O Thou Who hast redeemed of old, And bidst me of Thy strength take hold, And be at peace with Thee; Help me Thy benefits to own, And hear me tell what Thou hast done, O dying Lamb, for me. O grant the eye of faith to see The Man once pierced on Calvary, To know Thee Who Thou art - The one eternal God and true! And let the sight affect, subdue, And break my stubborn heart. Lover of souls, to rescue mine, Reveal the charity divine That suffered in my stead; That made Thy soul a sacrifice, And quenched in death those gracious eyes, And bowed that sacred head. The veil of unbelief remove; And by Thy manifested love, And by Thy sprinkled blood, Destroy the love of sin in me, And get Thyself the victory, And bring me back to God.

Who shall the Lord's elect condemn? 'Tis God that justifies their souls; And mercy like a mighty stream Purging their sin divinely rolls. Who shall condemn the saints to hell? 'Tis Christ that suffered in their stead, All their salvation to fulfil, Then rose triumphant from the dead. He lives, He lives, and sits above, For ever interceding there; Who shall divide us from His love? Or what should tempt us to despair? Shall persecution, or distress, Famine, or sword, or nakedness? He Who has loved us bears us through, And makes us more than conquerors too. Faith has an overcoming power, It triumphs in the dying hour: Christ is our joy, our hope, our life, Nor can we sink in earthly strife. Not all that men on earth can do, Nor powers on high, nor powers below, Shall cause His mercy to remove, Or wean our hearts from Christ our love.

What was it, O our God, Led Thee to give Thy Son, To yield Thy Well-beloved For us by sin undone? 'Twas love unbounded led Thee thus To give Thy Well-beloved for us. What led the Son of God To leave His throne on high, To shed His precious blood, To suffer and to die? 'Twas love, unbounded love to us, Led Him to die and suffer thus. What moved Thee to impart Thy Spirit from above, That He might fill our heart With heavenly peace and love? 'Twas love, unbounded love to us, Moved Thee to give Thy Spirit thus. What love to Thee we owe, Our God, for all Thy grace! Our hearts may well o'erflow In everlasting praise: Help us, O Lord, to praise Thee thus For all Thy boundless love to us.

Thou God of truth and love, We seek Thy perfect way. Ready Thy choice to approve, Thy providence to obey: Enter into Thy wise design, And sweetly lose our will in Thine. Why hast Thou cast our lot In the same age and place? And why together brought To see each other's face? To join with loving sympathy, And blend, as friendly souls, in Thee? Didst Thou not make us one, That we might one remain, Together travel on, And bear each other's pain; Till all Thy utmost goodness prove, And rise renewed in perfect love? Surely Thou didst unite Our kindred spirits here, That all hereafter might Before Thy throne appear; Meet at the marriage of the Lamb, And all Thy glorious love proclaim. Then let us ever bear This blessèd end in view, And join, with mutual care, To press our passage through; And kindly help each other on, Till all receive the final crown.

I want a principle within Of jealous, godly fear; A sensibility of sin, A pain to feel it near. I want the first approach to feel Of pride, or fond desire; To catch the wandering of my will, And quench the kindling fire. That I from Thee no more may part, No more Thy goodness grieve, The filial awe, the feeling heart, The tender conscience, give. Quick as the glancing of an eye, O God, my conscience make! Awake my soul, when sin is nigh, And keep it still awake. If to the right or left I stray, That moment, Lord, reprove; And let me weep that hour away, For having grieved Thy love. O may the least omission pain My well-instructed soul; And drive me to the blood again, Which makes the wounded whole!

This is a Sacred moment for me right now...I've found this hymn recently in the news feed of hymns... However, I'm on Fast and Prayer ...I read Psalm 40 and When Iwas throughreading ...right away The Holy Spiritspoke to my heart the Hymn JesusImy Cross Have Taken. There'smuch to take...to understand from this hymn and Im trying to retrieve the lyrics only for this purpose. Im alwaysin The King James Version...its All we know as The Bible However(I read the Message translation...I must say I recently find this interesting) as does the others translations ..so everyone can understand what God's manual is saying to us from The Standard King James version... God still Speaks Today. There's only one Blessed Holy Spirit. Jesus teaches us: My Sheep know my Voice (therefore when His Spirit Lives Within us we Will Know The Difference in what we Hear or Read)...WE WILL KNOW THE DIFFERENCE... AND A STRANGER WE WILL NOT FOLLOW... To God Be The Glory!!!
