I have raw water crusaders. I’m wondering about the process for the other side of the thermostat. I can’t get the engine warm in the boat yard.

Love this video. The SeaFlush kit was expensive but it’s a one time purchase and I’ve used it for 6 years, saving hundreds/thousands on hiring mechanics for winterizing work!
@seodreamteam10 ай бұрын
Seaflush with snorkel didn't work. Did not seal enough with a paper towel. Created no suction to pull antifreeze from bucket. Was a complete waste of time & caused somewhat of a mess because I had to pour 5 gallons back into their containers. Was very frustrating and time wasting, trying to get it to work. It was very disappointing as I had high hopes after watching this video & purchasing. Hopefully Amazon will refund my $100. The rest of the video is very good!

Excellent video, well done. Some manufacturers, Caterpillar for example, state do not pre fill the oil filter. Same goes for the engine mounted fuel filter. If you prefill it you are running unfiltered fuel thru the injectors.

I've used my Sea Flush on my previous boat that had separate water pumps for each unit. This year I have one like this with a T after the water pump and noted the unit closer to the pump was easy to see the pink but not the farther one. In your video I didn't see much coming from the far one either. Other than the suggestion to use some dish detergent for a visual - any recommendations on how to assure the far one is done correctly? I supposed I could disconnect the closer hose and plug it. Thanks!

If the AC pump has no suction power then how in the world is the water sucked in through the bottom of the boat during regular operation???
@johng57293 жыл бұрын
A/C pumps are mounted below the waterline of the boat. With the seacock open, water flows into the pump and the pump can then move it along from there. If the pump was mounted above the waterline, it couldn't draw the water up to it.
@dannyxz62603 жыл бұрын

It doesn't really matter, as long as air is blown through each hose/faucet.

You should use heat shrink butt connectors. Remember it's 2021 and there are more advanced ways of ensuring a waterproof connection than using electricians tape which water can compromise.
@johng57293 жыл бұрын
I've stepped my game up since this video was filmed. As a mechanic, I would typically match the wiring that the rest of the boat has. This boat is from 1988 and it's all just crimped butt connectors. No solder, no shrink wrap.

I tried the "snorkel" with my diesels.... guess what? It doesn't work...... yes, I tried the gasket thing but still doesn't work. You do NOT want your diesels running for any amount of time with no water.
@johng57293 жыл бұрын
Make sure the seacock is closed, otherwise the engine will just pull seawater in through the intake hose. Otherwise, you may have another accessory drawing water off the same intake hose. The engine's impeller creates suction, so with all other routes closed off, it'll pull liquid through the snorkel.

Use citric acid. Way cheaper and does exactly the same thing. Mercedes Marine engines sells this stuff themselves for the same purpose

Why heat exchanger instead of radiator ?
@JohnSmith-yv6eq10 ай бұрын
Where are you going to mount the radiator on a boat? Inside the cabin....in the Tropics? Outside on the deck? Water is so much more efficient at removing heat... and you are trying to heat the whole ocean... so unlimited heat transfer....
