Good informative podcast but , do you really think that the competing cacophonous background racket helped your listener to understand what was being explained here? Try making the next one without the awful accompanying muzaķ.

I have the Warner brand rope kind with hardly any use on it and with minimal fraying, but when I pull the rope to test it to see if it grabs going downward I can pull it through the grab with relative ease- is that normal? I went and bought another brand new Warner rope and it pulls through in the downward direction as well. I am not sure if they are faulty and unsafe or if it only grabs when it has a substantial amount of weight and a sudden amount of force. It seems like it should not slide in the down direction at all without releasing the grab. Should I be concerned? I did get some tar on my original one before and I was concerned that it may have a small amount in the grab mechanism, but again the brand new one slides in the downward direction just as easily and maybe even more easily and it has a skinnier rope.

Shouldn't screw on the flat side of the ridge. Should be screwing into the ridge itself.

I honestly can't believe what I am seeing and hearing. A REAL person, who knows what they are talking about. We have been thinking about metal roof for some time now. Just started looking online to get information. WOW...WOW...We have a looked at other info people, but they were clearly on serious medication and did NOT know what they were talking about. Can yo recommend anyone in Vermont? Gave us some very good information to start off. We can't begin to thank you properly. 😊

Interesting, I have barns that are 100 years old, with nails and lead washer, I think since I have owned them I have gone up and replaced two nails, I will admit the tin metal with lead in it is far more flexible , On my house I just replace the screws every ten years. , I saw a small F1 twister take a standing seam off a bank, from the clip side. so while it is prettier and such, I feel it is weaker than the old fashion metal roof. If your in an area that is not tornado ally, then a standing seam roof would be better for you. I prefer the old ways, since I do not need a machine, and I can work or replace them at anytime. Great Show.

Awesome video. Quick question can you roll the cap to seal for the 138t with the same machine so it can be the same length and color? Thank you for your expertise

Standing seam metal roofs are solar friendly because the seam can be used with S-5 products to create rail-less solar pv mounting.

If slipping / sliding down an inclined roof a correctly adjusted rope is clearly safer than a retractable unit (as demonstrated in this excellent video).

Last year I replaced my my shingle roof with a metal roof. Had this conversation with my contractor. I live in Florida and in the hurricane zone.In their practical experience most metal roof failure was standing seam. You have to inspect your roof periodically and might have to replace screws with the expose fastener type. There is more maintenance. It is a trade off. I chose the expose fastener type. BTW the screws used were cup over the sealing ring.

Here in central Florida, hurricanes cause corrugated metal roofs on mobile homes or boat dock roofs to pop screws and blow off. Use standing seam metal.

Is there a big difference between painted and non painted? I have heard that non painted reflects the heat while the painted retains heat which effects power bill due to AC working harder. Any truth to this?

You comparing tractor with car :D :D . Dont go with tractor to city and with car to fields :D There is diferent rectratables for roffing. And there is indicators on rectratables, that indicates or it was used in a accident. and normaly you must do insoections from profesionals. dont forget that most of ropes dont hawe edge guard. and i can say from my own experiance, with ropes will hurt muuuuuuuch more if you fall :D :D .So if you and your guys hawe problems with safety equimpent, first you all need training :)

You're missing a big one; mechanically attached membranes are more robust and able to handle small leaks. With a FA system, you get a small leak that compromises the bond in one area, you end up with the peel front travelling across the entire roof...to the point you can lose the entire roof.

Late to the game here, but one thing you didn't mention is wind load protection. Down here in south Florida we have to meet Dade County Hurricane wind load specifications. If I'm correct, the standing seam metal roof has the highest wind load protection between shingles or screw-down metal roofs. Thanks

Hi sir, can you justify the securement limited to cover board/ insulation board only? or it can be secured to the substrate either RC roof or Metal roof. Thank you.

Have you had any experience with a product called Cedair mat? (used under metal or cedar shake) Makes sense for noise reduction and a small amount of air flow to reduce deck temp. But.. it is spongy for your clips, you have to adjust your clip height somehow and it may have other issues.

I hear that it is easier to install solar on standing seam, but I would be cautious as to the method used, that they are not drilling into the seam, but using a clamp of some sort to do it.

There are metal roof products on the market that use hidden fastener systems and last a long time. I have installed both types in NH and have never had a problem. As long as you hem to the drip edge and use ice and water shield these roofs will last a long time. Attention to detail is the most important thing and you have to think like rainwater and snow so you will have no leakage.

i appreciate the video very professional. i was hoping you were going to include comparison for sub surface requirements AND A ROUGH COST COMARISON I WOULD LOVE TO INVEST IN STANDING SEAM. I HAVE A HIGH PITCHED ROOF 1932 CEDAR shingles nailed directly to horizontal true 1 x no underlayment. Approximately 30 years ago Asphalt shingles were reroofed on top of existing. No tear off, no sheathing added. The attic height approx 20 ft and 42 wide.Basically a rectangular layout in Southern California, ( snow present in the yard once in 1978). My QUESTION: .If only ridged insulation panels are required and additional horizontal nailers I hoping to save on the traditional costs of wood sheathing underlayment using asphalt shingles. Am I out in left field on this or what.
