I had the resistor wire take a dump on my 64 galaxie. They certainly did not ever figure on that thing ever failing, took me quite some time to get the wire removed from the harness under the dash and bulkhead connector. I replaced it with a 12AWG wire and made a new connector to fit in the bulkhead connector and will put a ballast resistor on the firewall instead. Screw that under dash work for a resistor wire. It worked great until it didn't lol.

It sure is easier to change the fuel pump without the power steering pump and hoses in the way. I have replaced my Carter with 2 different chineese pumps that did not work. The thing that I noticed on both china pumps was that the preload on the arm that follows the cam was very light compared to the Carter and that the amount of downward movement in the arm to the point where the arm movement could actually start the pump pumping from the action of the cam was probably more movement that the cam lobe could provide. In other words the arm is going up and down by the action of the cam but the lobe doesn't provide enough stroke to actually cause the pump to pump. The NAPA new pump was better than the one I got off ebay but neither one of them will pump anything. Do you know anyone who will sell a Carter fuel pump rebuild kit? I see vendors advertising to rebuild the pumps but have not been able to find the kit/parts.

what was the millage on that car .It seems little bit too early to change the water pump. By what i can see your exhaust bracket in front of flex pipe toward engine is broken and your car probably louder than usual That will put extra load on pipe and will crack your catalytic converter if that is the case go ahead and weld it back.

I had a 1960 17M KOMBI .... 3-door wagon. Was driving home from college one Friday afternoon, bringing my roommate to his house. Had to coast due to heavy afternoon traffic on parkway, when I heard a thud. No power. Was close to an exit. He went to call his parents. I sat in vehicle. Long story short .... towed the vehicle to my house, scoured some local junk yards .... found a rear-end wreck, pulled the motor, brought it home, checked it out, installed it, and kept the car for several more years. Short story .... the original engine had no oil filter. It was an\ option in 1960 model. The replacement had the oil filter (screw-on) adaptor. The original motor threw a connecting rod. Salvaged the usable parts, junked the rest. Wish I still had it today .... probably worht a couple of $$$$ as a curio.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. I purchased the Foxwell BT705PLUS. I have 7 automotive type batteries and including all the neighbors I thought it would be a good addition to my tool arsenal. Everything was going good until I had to add a little water to one of the batteries. My 3 ball hygrometer that I used to add water showed one of the cells completely dead. I charge it at 15 amps over night, dead. I charged it with a 800ma charger for a week, checking it every day, dead. What did the FOXWELL say? It not only said 100% SOH,SOC, but it said that the MCA was higher than new. You can't contact them by phone. Email takes days. It's been near 2 week. They are giving me the runaround. In the first email I gave them all the info I thought they needed. I wrote down everything on the battery and everything on the Foxwell display. The next email they ask for PICTURES of everything I previously told them. I also gave them a picture of my charger and a picture of the Hygrometer and all the reading of every cell. There 3rd email they ask, in broken English, what tool I used to determine that the cell was bad. (in the last email I took a picture of the tool and all of the readings.) THAT'S ALL SENT IT BACK! Advise anything you buy must have real person customer support.
