Actually, traditional Chinese is the real Chinese, though it's harder to write than simplify Chinese. I really suggest u go try to learn traditional Chinese.

I started July 1 and I'm close to where you're at. So it would be less than 180 days for me. I got a notification from Duolingo that said I was doing better than 96 percent of people taking this course but I spent about 15 minutes on the first section of a lesson and test out immediately and then just do the stories and listening exercises and if I fail a unit then I do the next section and test out again and usually the second time around I always pass. I also have super Duo which speeds everything up.
