Just came back from Bali and Lombok. Been there many times. This was the last. Food in good resteraunts was crap and overpriced. Desperate and anoyying hawkers who don't know the word NO THANKYOU. Rubbish in the ocean really bad. Accomodation always had something wrong. No t.v., no wifi, dirty sheets, etc ,cte, I think the younger generation are taking over and only want your dollar.

I am so sorry about the dishonesty that seems to be rife throughout Indonesian culture now. 40 years ago it was just honest bartering, with pride left on both sides.

@keldersoutdoorsКүн бұрын
@AnthonyZee-g7i yeah there was alot of scammers, we found it both in the hotels/resorts as well as the locals. But definitely was much worse in Bali than in Lombok. Though by the time we were in lombok we had learnt to stick to airbnbs (so much better!) and usually got really good advice from the hosts.

Very surprising to see some of this now actually, I was last in Bali back in 2019 right before COVID hit. Some of the places you passed that are now closed down/extremely run down were bustling bars/restaurants and shops when I was there. Didn't notice is on the first watch, then on second watch after spotting the "Tubes, Bar and Restaurant" (With the big wave wall) at the 4 min mark- it hit. I took a photo standing on top of the surf board attached to that wave wall with a line of people heading into the bar one night. Crazy how much has changed...

Handsome bag! I was on the fence about this pack for a while, but I saw one on FB marketplace at a good price and hit everything I wanted - Made in USA, Large, All black. Even then, I was dilly dallying on actually buying it. But has you said, it's a simple bag no bells and whistles, you can take it on a day hike trip or multi-day trip. It's not as bulky as most bags so you're more inclined to actually USE it. Excited to take it out and do an overnighter.

@RiverogueLander5 ай бұрын
@@matthewreynolds1096 which kokopelli do you use? I would like their latest model, the Rodeo. Right now I am using a self bailing Caribou in class IV+ whitewater. It is a light fabric, but seems to be ok in the local rock gardens along the East Slope of the Wind River Mountains. I have to roll up my Hyperlight pack around an inflated pillow and put it in a Sea to Summit drybag, to use as a backrest, but it works well. That self bailing Caribou is great for backpacking and bike touring. Minus the foot brace, it is a sub six pound whitewater boat that I can roll into an 8" x 8" space, before adding camping gear into the pack.
@matthewreynolds10964 ай бұрын
@@RiverogueLanderi use the Recon with self draining floor. It is PVC so a little heavier but with the sharp Canadian Shield granite bedrock of most of our rivers i think it's needed.

I wonder how the 2024 Kokopelli XPD would hold up. It is only 12 pounds. Not sure how much lighter of material than the Recon.

I've heard the best way to sleep in a hammock is on an angle, one side to your feet on the other side. It helps to create a less bent position.

@keldersoutdoors8 ай бұрын
Its legal.. just do nothing stupid and have no fires.There are multi-day hikes through the area so for some hikers its a necessity to camp. But often people need to be rescued for different reasons, so its not a good idea for inexperienced ppl to camp there.
