So who’s responsible for the rent or payments ? The borrower ? And is that percentage payed at the end of the year ?
@Jonathanmillspatrick25 күн бұрын
Evening. Your question doesn't match the topic of this video. That said, the business should be paying all of its own bills. Investors are giving you money to cover those expenses, in exchange for ownership in the business.

@ sorry, I just couldn’t find any resources. I have zero knowledge on the investors part. I’m trying to get information. I have a family member that wants to invest money in my business. Food Truck. How can I go more about this ?
@Jonathanmillspatrick25 күн бұрын
@@AcuraMDXTypeS no need to apologize. Being a resource is one reason I post this content. The amount of equity you give an investor depends on a lot of factors. If you, the founder, just have an idea and aren't injecting cash then you will have to give up more. If you, the founder, are injecting cash and time into the business then you'd give up less. As a generic rule of thumb, you should expect to give up to 25% for your first round of funding. At a minimum. Why? Because the investor is taking on a lot of risk investing in something that isn't live yet. You might check out my course, The Startup Funding Formula, where I walk you through more on this topic - jonathanmillspatrick.gumroad.com/l/startupfundingformula

Can you be both a residential broker and commercial under the same entity ?
@Jonathanmillspatrick27 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question. I don't see an issue with doing both residential and commercial brokering under the same legal entity. The other challenge I can see is if your particular state does not allow it. For that, you would want to check with your local NMLS office.

The question you have to ask yourself is if you have the financial means to enforce legal documents. Getting an NDA signed or a patent issued isn’t protection. It requires money to be able to afford attorneys to enforce those documents.

SBA loans are not easy. You are putting out misleading information to entrepreneurs and it’s not cool.
@Jonathanmillspatrick2 ай бұрын
Good morning, Zach. Let's break down exactly what I said. I said APPLYING for an SBA loan is free and "pretty easy." Which it is. Applying for an SBA is as simple as contacting a PLP (which I referenced). That PLP will guide you through the process. I did NOT say getting approved for one is easy. I know that well since I led the top SBA lending credit union in Tennessee and even today have $9.8M in SBA loans with lenders right now where one might make it, while the other two may have to go the private lending route. i.e. it's not easy to get approved. Finally, I see you are trying to grow a funding KZbin channel. I wish you luck.
@fundedwithzach2 ай бұрын
@@JonathanmillspatrickI suppose, overall though the video makes it seem to be a walk in the park when we both know that it is not. What private lending are you referring to? Sounds like you promote SBA loans and say things like it’s easy to apply, then if they don’t qualify you get the poor people into MCAs… 🐸🍵 Thanks and good luck to you as well.

Great point on timing. Problem with a lot of modern businesses is that they're based on intangibles, which probably don't show up on the balance sheet. I guess that's where convertibles come in. Over the years, I've found that the longer one leaves it, the more convinced one becomes that they don't need it.

Hey brother question what about when the lender pays your fee at the title company can you explain this process?
@Jonathanmillspatrick6 ай бұрын
Sure. You get a fee agreement executed at the beginning of the engagement (I include it in my course). The title company cuts you a check at closing or ACH transfers the payment. You deposit it and make money. It's not complicated at all. You pay can come out of loan proceeds, depending on the lender, or out of closing costs.

@Jonathanmillspatrick6 ай бұрын
@@raysegura6669 hi, Ray. I’ve seen Oz’s content. I’m sure his course is good. But, yes, I have deliberately set my pricing much, much lower than most other programs. Why? 1) I don’t want to break people’s wallets. But, I feel I should be compensated for the time I took to prep the course and the knowledge I’ve built up over 25+ years that I am sharing; 2) I don’t like coming off as an “online guru”, so I’m not trying to turn courses into a full-time job.; 3) the industry isn’t easy, so I priced my course to help people hopefully have an easier ROI. But, of course, it all comes down to how much work you put in. Said shorter, my decisions are always based on trying to be a fair/good person.

Thankyou for this vid. Is a 20(founder)/80(investor) share deal fair? He suggested I start the same business in multiple areas he is providing the capital. The split will be 20/80.
@Jonathanmillspatrick6 ай бұрын
The only time I've seen that type of split favoring investors is after multiple rounds of funding that created that level of dilution. If this is your first round of funding the average is around 80 (founder)/20 (investor).

I am a solo founder. Agreed a "team" is required. some nuances around that. (never mind) Now I have like a really solid pool of talent who are willing to offer technical support to my present state development. They are willing to lend their name and be open about their support. Wether they will become full time team members, or directors or any formal association with my company in the future is subjective to the investment I raise. They are seriously interested in joining up. So can I consider them to be my "Board Of Advisors"? Or do i need a formal /offical kind of document to be signed with them?

Hi, great video btw! I wondered if you may be able to advise if this is right? so I recently spoke with an investor for a start up investment, I was asking for £50,000 and they stipulated they wanted 80% equity from the start and they would set "milestones" for us to buy the equity back as we paid off the investment, now I'm new to the business scene and I have no capital of my own, or anything of value to hold against the investment, so I understand this would be a strong gamble for the investor, but my business plan is strong, and I feel 80% is alot to ask for, am I right in thinking this way, or is 80% acceptable due to the circumstances of me having nothing to put against the investment and the fact I have no previous experience in running a business? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance
