@TheBikeRoomАй бұрын
@@tobymusson8413 it’s sorted 99% but because I had a non-dealer for the replacement motor, unfortunately they didn’t have the Yamaha software to sync the controller with the motor. This means that the controller doesn’t display the ‘range’ of the battery. My way around that is to use the ‘trip’ and battery bars remaining. The range has always been a bit of a false reading anyway as the motor doesn’t know what elevation is up ahead, and it’s elevation that can really reduce what actual range is left. Thanks for watching, let’s hope we can enjoy our local trails now the rain has stopped 🌧️🤞🤟

Let's hope that it's third time lucky now. I am surprised at how quickly you sorted this out. You wouldn't have had anywhere near this level of customer service with an obscure Chinese brand. With EVs, it is worth paying more and going with a long and established brand.

@TheBikeRoomАй бұрын
Pauls Cycles posted out motor and I had a local bike shop (Dragon Cycles Cardiff) fit it. Needs Yamaha software to sync display with the motor but tbh, all else works as ran a diagnostic on it, all good. The 'range' readout is based on what is in the battery but I always used it with a pinch of salt. Best is to use the assistance where it's in either eco or standard (for fitness and range) and avoid High mode or Auto mode (which selects High mode for anything that goes up).

@@Biking360 cheers Jay. Good news, although it’s the second motor to go with the same error code, which according to Paul’s Cycles means it has gone and needs replacement. Sorry to hear. Don’t lose the faith. I only had 1 problem with my eMTBs and it involved replacing the motor after nearly 3 years. Both mine have been Bosch though.
@TheBikeRoomАй бұрын
Cheers Dafydd, reading ebike forums and can't believe the level of misery and frustration, especially from ebikers out of warranty, trying to resolve issues without having to resort to buying replacement motors or new batteries. One chap with an issue (not a Yamaha motor), bought a new battery and control unit as the error code suggested these were faulty, and he had 5 miles of uninterrupted riding, and then it went again. So he had spent, with a new motor, which is where the issue actually lay, over £1,200 plus labour. The error codes were incorrect. Stuff like that, out of warranty, will place me firmly back in the saddle of my normal pedal power bike, I simply don't have the patience or the cash to keep up with ebike technology. I've done 1,300 miles on the replacement motor since March so at least that had a longer innings than the 500 miles on the first motor, from when I bought the ebike new in November 2023.
@belowaveragemountainingbik7279Ай бұрын
@@TheBikeRoom nightmare. It’s not cheap I agree. My main problem at the moment is good ole fashion tech - cassettes, chains and gear cables. Hope the bike get sorted out for good this time. I must admit that my mileage is nowhere near yours so that might be the reason I have less problems.
@TheBikeRoomАй бұрын
@@belowaveragemountainingbik7279 only a month ago I also had issues with the more mundane, couldn’t get the chain ring bolts off to fit a new chainring, a spoke snapped in the rear wheel, a linkage bolt that had rounded and I had to chase the suppliers and they couldn’t get one for ages (they had to remove one bolt from a similar bike they had in stock as the manufacturer didn’t send one. I even ordered the whole linkage bolt set from Ridewill in Italy at over £100 and they sent the wrong set and then said they had no stock and only reimbursed me £80 owing to postage plus it cost me £20 to post the pack back to them signed postage. It’s been a catalogue of issues so can’t wait to buy a good brand from a local bike shop.

I tried replacing the battery etc to no avail. I got home, squirted on some HC spray on the battery and terminal pins inside the battery compartment and taa daa, bike all good. Switched on, rode it down the street, all good. Then today climbed Cwmcarn, did the first OP and it just turned off. Switched on and same error code....
