How long does it normally take to obtain all this information and get your setup ?
@Chaddz33 ай бұрын
It can take a while because of all the testing you have to do to make sure everything is gonna work plus the time to make the adjustments and fix the stuff that changes along with the change your making. the testing is gonna depend on the size of the track your at.. Pocono for example 1 lap takes about a minute smaller tracks of course wont take as long but on average i give myself a good day to get a setup built before i plan to race it. i usually race trucks on Friday Nights and ill start the beginning of my next build either after my race for the current week is over or sometime on Saturday usually have it pretty much dialed other than a few minor adjustments by Monday or Tuesday I would say overall allow yourself a abouta good 8 to 10 hours to get the setup built just to be safe also keep in mind if some thing does pan out as expected or if you doing experimental stuff looking for new ideas to go faster yet that can add time as well.. luckily you will get plenty of track practice as you build the setup with all the test driving you need to do. figure for Pocono any way each test run in my sheet is a 20 minute driving run plus the 5 or 10 minutes of making adjustments and logging the lap and tire data.. it can be monotonous but to compete against these setup shops you gotta be on you game with doing a better job of doing your homework than they did, But this is really the only way to know you'll get a setup thats gonna be able to run with them. and it beats paying for a monthly subscription or spending 10 bucks every week for a setup that can become some serious coin over time. The good news is as you become more expirience and start seeing how different changes affect thing syou'll eventuallly find short cuts to save time..
@Chaddz33 ай бұрын
I also forgot before making any big changes to your setup. save your setup so if you break it you can go back to where it was. i cant count how many times i had gotten it pretty good thought i could get better and ended up breaking it it and made it worse and couldn't get it back how it was... so save often to you don't have to start over if you mess up somewhere!! That's my Free Tip for Thursday :)

Do you not run the street stock, gen 4 cup, legends or drift master series ? Your last lap was 34.323 if you haven't already noted it. And great job on keeping a clean race and the Irating gain.
@Chaddz33 ай бұрын
i hadnt run street stocks since i was in rookies. i did run gen 4 cup last season i've tried draft masters once and thier were just too many wrecks in that series for my liking.i dropped gen4 cup and xfinity open so i can focus more on trucks and Arca and try to do better in my races i think alot of the problem i was having with my irating losses and my racing in general was trying to have too much on my plate at the same time and it was hurting my performance across the board, so i decided to scale it back and focus on just a couple instead of 4 or 5 at once. i was able to get my last lap.. i went back and watched the video to get it.. but thanks for posting it for me.

@@Chaddz3 the street stocks i was referring to is the C licence next level racing series, looks like fun but probably another wreck fest.

With the new truck, it likes lower cross weight, smaller front bar, and more rear skew (max rear toe +6/-6), and skew can also be done with truck arms/trackbars too. doing those changes alone will pick up a ton of speed and help with the right front wearing a ton
@Chaddz33 ай бұрын
thanks bud i'll definately be testing those things as i continue this series. havent quite got there yet were still working on the building spring package part. the problem with doing this at Pocono is that it take 3 months to finish a lap so but its the next race on the schedule and i need to build a setup anywho so what can you do yanno.

Is an open set up that important ? If the race field was all pros then i'd say yes, but if it's a mixture of all levels i'd say race craft is far more important. I recently watched a youtuber run a fixed set up in an open race and he came in 5th.
@Chaddz33 ай бұрын
from a speed standpoint a custom setup is nice to have but you dont really need one to go fast.. but to go fast consistently over a full fuel run a setup is mandatory. the balance on the fixed setup is piss poor at best and it burns the right tire off too fast then the truck wont turn and starts scrubbing speed. also open setup allows you to fix problems the fixed setup has like the front splitter digging in to race track because the ride height is too low. fixed setups are set up very tight designed around newer drivers who havent mastered car control which is why it burns off the right front tire. open setup you can create a loose setup and the old saying goes.. loose is fast when your on the edge of control. besides open setup adds another skill to accel at.. building a good setup is an art.. those that can actually drive and have the skills to build a set (and not buy it from a setup shop) will have an advantage over some who can't all things being equal. another thing about open is you can adjust it to better fit your driving style and make the car more comfortable.. especially on a bumpy track like Rocking ham where the bumps create so much bump steer the car is nearly undrivable. with open you can adjust springs and shocks to reduce bump steer and make it so your steering wheel doesn't beat the hell out of you when you hit a bumpy part of the track.
@CampbellRacing3 ай бұрын
Open setups allow the individual driver to be better. The reason the youtuber beat others in a fixed set is simply that he is faster than them, but if he was in an open setup tailored to him he may have won because the setup would have allowed him to be better/faster. So it's more of an individual thing if that makes sense. Note, I'm talking about setups tailored to an individual, not just an open setup in general. If you prefer a tight car and you get a setup that's loose, it's going to suck. So that's where it makes a difference. It won't let you beat that other guy necessarily, it lets you beat your time in a fixed setup or a setup that doesn't fit your driving style.

That's shit luck. Are open races not more competitive ? I don't have iracing and i'm not gonna tell someone with your experience what to do, but what's the "safest" form of paved ovals.
@Chaddz33 ай бұрын
once you get your irating up over about 1000 or so and get out of the lobbies that are getting the newer drivers who just got their C license making them eligible to run open series. the problem is they havent been racing long enough to learn basic car control and they are wrecking themselves and others even running the fixed setup. then you throw in the setup shops and the way they advertise target these newer drivers and blame thier low irating and the fact theyre not winning races on the newer racer's setup. setup shop will send pro level drivers that work for them in to a low strength of field practice lobby where they set the fastest lap in the lobby spam a message in the lobby's text chat i just turned (insert extremely impressive lap time here) and i did it with "pay to wreck" setup shop's premeire setup click this link and for 35 dollars a month you can be fast too. then these newer in experienced drivers buy these things don't know how to drive them without wadding them up and not only ruining thier own race but everyone elses as well when the spin causing a wreck that kills most of the field. ill go in to an open practice and see drivers with rookie level i ratings turning top split Pro level lap times then wreck 2 laps later because theyve only been on the service for 2 mpnth and based on thier skill level have no business driving with a paid setup.
