Thank you Victor for the inspiration. Watched play for the first time play that tune ‘leta u bwembya tuume ishilu’ when you had accompanied a Magician in Mazabuka a long time ago.

We discoverd Derek at lovely intimate Town Hall performance last Friday. His playing was nothing short of jaw dropping but more importantly so stunningly beautiful it was a moving experience. I would drop anything anywhere to go see this master of his instrument. On a lighter note my brother in law at the conclusion leant in to me and whispered " there's gonna be a few people who go home tonight and smash their guitars." Perfect finale.

Truly amazing. Unfortunate for most guitar players, I think Derek Gripper is steeped in the Wet African Griot tradition as his obviously has amazing technical ability but his sense of rhythm and feel is not something one can practice but takes a lot of connection. It really gets me emotional. Just amazing. I hope he posts concerts so I can see him live.
