Okay so buckle up I started thinking on this theory more and realized it fit really well into a theory that I had had been ruminating on for a while now so I finally wrote out all the details for it. Although most of it agrees with your conclusions, there is one slight contradiction. I was originally thinking about the “death node” concept that LG constantly references, where certain nodes like death cannot be changed under any circumstances, and how it seemed to be inconsistent in the story. In some cases, CXS’s actions seemed to have directly caused or prevented a certain person’s death, while in others, he could do nothing to save them. When I looked at what was different between those two types of cases, I found that in the former, CXS did not KNOW of that person’s fate when he made a change in the past, like when he saved Doudou from what was likely his death, but never confirmed to be. In the latter, CXS could not change a fate that he already knew of, like the deaths from the earthquake or Emma’s final death. My theory is that “fate” and “nodes” in this story are similar to the Schrödinger’s cat thought experiment, which says that a cat that is completely enclosed in a box and cannot be seen by anyone outside of that box exists in two contradictory states (in this case life and death) until someone looks into the box and becomes aware of the cat’s fate, either alive OR dead. Transferring it over to Link Click, my theory is that the time between when the photo was taken and when CXS dives into the photo in the present coincides with the “box.” Fate is fluid and undefined inside of this “box” and the only things that cannot be changed are the things that ARE defined- known facts and certainties based on future events. CXS can alter any event within that “box” as long as he has not already seen a future outcome that contradicts that change. This would also explain why certain large events become “nodes,” because you can’t really avoid knowing about something that was broadcast on the news or has a direct effect on your life. Here’s how I kinda thought about it for all of the cases that specifically involve death: Overall cases- the changes that the duo make when they take certain missions never change known outcomes. The intel they gather or alterations they make don’t affect the time from that past event to the present day, they only use that knowledge to affect future events. With the noodle lesbians, CXS’s actions in the past didn’t change the fate of their restaurant or prevent their friendship from falling out, it only allowed him to gain information that he then relayed back in the present. Although this information caused a change in the future, it only affected the time AFTER the dive, prevent any sort of paradox. The same is true in the Earthquake case, his messages didn’t alter the timeline because everyone who would have known about it died shortly after. The only real “change” made was the saving of the camera, which was not something that CXS originally knew about. His actions of saving the camera didn’t change reality from “the camera was destroyed” to “the camera was saved,” it simply just made the camera being saved a fact. Emma case- the known “certainty” was of Emma’s death after CXS learned of Liu Min’s actions. When he finally learned of Emma’s death by diving into the surveillance footage, Emma’s death was set in stone, and none of his actions were able to change that outcome. However, it could be argued that CXS’s actions are the sole cause of her death in the first place, which would also seemingly violate the “death node” principle. CXS sending the text that night was what led to future events that wouldn’t have occurred without his interference, eventually leading to Emma’s death. Yet, this was before we knew of Emma’s future. CXS was not aware of whether she lived or died after the fact, and so he was able to make that change. Doudou case- we didn’t know doudou’s fate when the case was presented, and we never learned of if he would have lived or died without CXS’s intervention. Realistically in that situation, we could expect that Doudou would have been killed, but it was SPECIFICALLY CXS’s actions that caused his kidnapper to keep Doudou alive and turn herself in years later. This would seem like a direct violation of the “node” principle, since CXS’s are what CAUSED future events to occur, seemingly changing fate, but since we didn’t know of Doudou’s fate, can we really say that? CXS altered the kidnapper’s unknown actions, but didn’t affect any known events from that point leading up to the current day (like if he had returned Doudou in the past before they had even gotten the case, which would have created a paradox) Xu Shanshan case- so there were really two phases to this case, first was the actual case they got hired for, which was to find out what Dong Yi said when Xu Shanshan blacked out. Yet again, CXS’s actions were the direct cause of a later event, in this case Xu Shanshan’s ambush after being on the news. But those events were not something that CXS knew about before making changes to the past. Besides knowing of the party and that she blacked out, CXS did not know any other details of that night, including whether or not she had actually ran into that one creep. The second part of the case is Xu Shanshan being attacked by Liu Min. The key point here is that CXS did not know whether or not Xu Shanshan had died when she was attacked, since LG’s view of the situation cut off right before she was stabbed. Therefore, he was able to change unknown there with actions that would allow her to live. He was not altering a pre-written fate, simply filling in that blank with a desirable outcome. If this is true, then honestly LG might have a chance at saving CXS yet… maybe. Based on all that I just said, we might assume that LG’s knowledge of CXS’s death will prevent him from ever being able to change it, as he knows every future outcome regarding CXS’s fate. However, in all of CXS’s dives so far, he has always at some point left the “box” to go back to his original time. LG does not seem to be doing this. He’s going back in time and then seemingly staying within that new timeline forever, or at least until he fails to save CXS and needs to reset once again. Instead of rewriting select chapters before jumping back to the current one, he’s actually just ripping all pages out after a certain point in order to write a completely new story. By never leaving his “box,” he can theoretically change fate however much he wants, as he never learns of the true outcomes of his actions. Although this interpretation might give some hope for a happy ending, there could be other problems that arise from his continual changes to the timeline. Could his actions be damaging himself or the timeline in some way? Just how many times will he be able to reset the timeline in the event he fails to save CXS? What happens if he’s kicked out of the past and forcibly returned to the present, like what happened with CXS when Li Tianchen took control of LG while CXS was possessing him? Will that undo all of the changes he’s made up until that point? And yes I did just spend 3+ hours writing this all out in my notes app.

@theratsinyourattic Ok I plan on ruminating on this for a bit longer before I write out a more fleshed out reply, but I really think you’re onto something here. I’ve always found it interesting that the Doudou and Xu Shanshan cases are left ambiguous since both instances would otherwise likely be recognized as moments preventing death nodes, and I feel that your Schrödinger’s Box comparison makes a lot of sense with this. It has a sort of “if a tree falls in a forest, does it really make a sound” kind of logic in a way: if the fate of something is unknown, how can that fate be declared as a fact? I’d also like to say that calling them the noodle lesbians made me laugh because that’s genuinely exactly what my friends and I call them dhsjdhsjdhd Like I said, I will probably return to reply with more well thought out ideas once I finish rotating this in my brain like a gas station hotdog >_>” That being said, you absolutely COOKED here and i’m honored that my video inspired you to write this out 🥹🥹

@@hyperfaexation Heyo it’s me again- I have continued falling down this theorizing rabbit hole and have compiled a few more pieces of my boxed time theory so I’ll just post them here: When LG is guiding CXS, he always informs him of key details directly before they happen. He tells CXS directly of the stuff that needs to stay set in stone, and any of the changes we have seen so far have been when LG either didn’t know of or didn’t inform him of a certain detail (like when CXS sent the text as LG was sleeping, or LG also not knowing Doudou or Xu Shanshan’s fate). This could also possibly explain why LG has always seemed so panicked when CXS goes into a photo alone, as CXS is already changing the past BEFORE either of them know of certain outcomes. LG always looks into a photo before sending CXS in so that he knows of all of the minute details of that past, with the only exceptions I can think of being when CXS got in Liu Min’s car and in Bridon Arc ep4 where CXS accidentally dove into the photo before LG could look into it. Both times, LG freaked out and asked CXS what he did in the photo, possibly because he wouldn’t know what had been changed since he hadn’t seen the original. All of the original events of that photo would be considered“unknowns” to both of them, and so the reality of the situation could’ve been almost entirely based on CXS’s actions. I’m not sure entirely if the changeable “unknowns” are only based on what the diver knows or if it also takes into account other people’s memories. Like if LG knew of a certain result but CXS didn’t, would it still be counted as an “unknown” that CXS could affect? On the completely opposite end of the spectrum, the only cases that would be COMPLETELY set and unchangeable would be if you knew every single detail of every event, for example, your own past. The only instance we have seen so far of somebody diving back into their own past has been what LG is currently doing, CXS only ever went back as someone else or created another copy of himself via security camera. It’s possible this is intentionally omitted. If my theory is correct, then CXS going back to his own past would prevent him from making any changes and would possibly prove the correlation between reality and memories. LG, however, HAS seen subtle changes despite being inside his own fully-remembered past, which would contradict the theory that someone’s memories determine reality EXCEPT if there was some significance to him never returning to his original timeline. If he never leaves the photo, his previous memories will likely be overwritten, meaning that there is no known “outcome” that fate must adhere to. This whole theory is still very much under development, and so I just wanted to share any new changes I make to it somewhere so that they don’t all just stay rotting inside my head lol.

@theratsinyourattic YOU'RE COOKING SO HARD THIS JUST BLEW MY MIND. *Spoilers for episode 4 ahead, so if you haven't seen the newest episode, don't read past here.* In episode 5, CXS dives back into the photo by accident, something that LG is entirely surprised by. If we are going by what you say here, this instance would allow him to unintentionally change the fate of what happened in the photograph, which could explain why we have the two survivors teased in the op and why LG is so stressed about asking him what he did while in the photograph. If the death nodes weren't able to be changed, LG would have no reason to be so stressed about what happened during CXS's dive into the fire. You have given me SO much to think about oh my *god* I feel like im having one of those Breath of the Wild memory cutscenes right now but the entire series is playing behind my eyes as I think this through... One big clue that you're missing, in S1 EP1, Cheng Xiaoshi definitely didn't had any clue about his missing parent, yet he already got the timetravel ability, which doesn't match with what's been going on in Bridon Arc since he definitely knows about his father, so the S1 S2 timeline is definitely altered by Lu Guang, as he mentioned in the end of S2, and the oversea trip mentioned in S1EP6 might not even be Bridon. Bridon Arc won't end well for Cheng Xiaoshi for sure.

Thanks for this compilation, I didn't notice this at all at first but after seeing people point out a couple, it honestly irks me that people labels them "animation errors". If they are as many, those are not errors but intentional. I've never worked on animation but I've been in illustration and I can tell you, artists are always very meticulous about angles, perspective, composition, like yes, sometimes they're accidental symbolism but they usually craft a frame a certain way. Like the artists have references of the entire photo studio, they wouldn't misplaced potted plants or clothes (it would mean an entire team of animators/background artists/artistic director didn't see the mistake, like, that's seem far fetched to me). Mistakes can exist but unless they had HUGE production problems and things were rushed, it doesn't match what we knows of the production we've seen on the previous seasons & all the symbolisms they like to put in OPs, EDs & MVs. To me it's obviously a stylistic choice of showing the multiple timelines like you said or/and the confused state of Lu Guang's mind (memories merging/mixing). It could be a way to show us the different timelines he's been through without showing like all of it (since Lu Guang wouldn't change a lot anyway) and avoid repetitions. It could also be a clue or an example of time falling apart/being fucked up because of LG's actions. I honestly think it's a great choice to show it like this (it rewards the very attentive viewers, which was not me because I failed to notice any of it haha) and I'm excited to see where they will go with it. (sorry for the rant but your video proves that there's too many discrepancies to just be errors so I needed to get that out, thank you for putting all of this together, it was really interesting ! :D )

I think there's a big question here: if we accept that there are at least five timelines in the Brison arc, why does Lu always go back to the beginning of their meeting whenever Cheng dies? Isn't this odd? He could simply go back a day, a week, or even a month before the incident. Another question is whether the transferred abilities last in the body of their second host forever, or if there's a limitation. For example, does Lu in Season 2 still retain Cheng's ability, or does it fade after a certain period, like 12 hours? What if there really are five timelines, and Lu still has Cheng's ability, but the timelines differ in such a way that not all of them reset from the same starting point? I suspect the Brison arc will end with Cheng's death again, and this will actually be the third timeline. My reasoning is that the death scene of Cheng we saw in Season 2 might represent the first timeline. Lu has witnessed Cheng's death multiple times, and the first instance likely affected him the most, making it the most vivid in his memory. After Cheng's death at the end of the Brison arc (let's call it the third timeline for now), I believe Lu will become bolder in his approach to changing time. In this scenario, we might see him dive again. This time, he could potentially hide that photograph of Cheng’s father (or rather, the trap photo), preventing Cheng from finding it. However, even with this change, Lu would still plan to travel to Yingdu later, meaning the big shift would only be in the timing of their visit to Yingdu-and, of course, in avoiding another "death node." Later, in Season 2, there’s a significant chance that Lu dived at least twice. The first instance might be when he had a wound on his stomach and saved CXS by riding the boat. The second could be when he saved him from Qian Jin’s bullet in the last episode of Season 2.

I was thinking about this recently and I was like… I think this theory actually made me lose my mind a little bit. Like I can’t look at anything the same way again. Remember at the end of s2, where they have the welcome home party? I was like… hey, different clothes. Why is Lu guang dressed like he’s gonna attend a vogue show? I know it’s a welcome home party but he’s the only one dressed like that and also CXS is also dressed differently. And at that moment my brain started yelling at me like dude. You are seeing things that aren’t there. There are a shit ton of untested reasons as to why they changed clothes specifically for this. So if I’m right and it is a part of it, I’m a genius, but I feel very schizophrenic right now

What if Lu Guang isn't actually going back in time - or is seeing a warped version of time (perhaps because of Vein) - where he is either mis-remembering things, or they are being changed.
@fixielle11 күн бұрын
What I've gathered from the songs, there are two types of time used, Shiguang, which seems to be more about memories, which is indeed shown through filmstrips, and Shijian, which is more concrete sense of time, like minutes and hours (there are other words for time in Chinese but Shijian comes from The Girl Downstairs, where Link Click was called that instead of Shiguang Dailiren) For example in 3, 2, 1! Cheng Xiaoshi is seen with filmstrips behind him, so he sees time more as shiguang, while Lu Guang, who has more clocks behind him, sees time more as shijian. This way they see time may also refer to how they see the relationship between Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang, since Shiguang has characters from both of their names they should stay together but Shijian doesn't so they shouldn't. Qiao Ling in her music video also has film strips so she sees time as shiguang but Liu Xiao in Prometheus has clocks behind him so he sees time as Shijian. I don't yet know where Xia Fei falls with his digital clocks and I don't remember Vein having any clocks associated with him.
@duca_49514 күн бұрын

@MINIPRO2712 күн бұрын
I believe they're showing 3 separate timelines that come before s1 and splicing it together which explains all the animation inconsistencies. The clocks in season 1 are always offset compared to Lu Guang's watch when they dive together, also the "timeline" comparison you give from video editing from what I understand means that the clips can't be trimmed because these nodes need to happen in the timeline, however lu Guang can overwrite the source footage as long as these frames still reach the right timecode
@hyperfaexation11 күн бұрын
