How strong is The Standard. The one with the blue label. Is it heavy in weight as well and will weigh down the hair? Is it a heavy/strong hold compared to other heavy OB pomades?

You are right about the shampoo argument. I used a water-based pomade for a couple of weeks and my hair had become very dry. I switched to an oil-based one (Pan Drwal Greasy Punk Wax Pomade) and my scalp became so much healthier. It washes out with a conditioner + any shampoo (yes, even a light shampoo). Similarly, Reuzel Green also washes out after two washes of any shampoo, even a lighter one, as long as you apply conditioner first. Still, I would argue that most water-based pomades differ from hairgel. Not only do they lack alcohols, they typically do contain some petrolatum, hydrogenated castor oil and/or wax (usually beeswax) further down the list of ingredients. For me, the word "pomade" means it contains some oils or waxes. In case those are not the main ingredients, I call them "water-based pomades". Calling them "pomade-associated hair gels" doesn't cut it for me, because the oils and waxes do make a difference. Sure, if the ingredient list looks like this: water, emulsifier, PVP or PEG-7, glycerine or another moisturizer, fragrance. Yeah sure, that's not a water-based pomade, that's hair gel without the alcohols. Similarly, some "clays" don't contain any kaolin or bentonite. Those are not clays. Anyway, I highly appreciate you took your time to talk about ingredients. Pomades are so often discussed and compared online, but somehow all ingredients (except the main one) are often ignored, which doesn't make any sense to me.

Such a great video. There is a doubt for its performance. As you described it is a super heavy hold product, why is it classified as "heavy" on "PomadeShop"? Could you please explain more about its performance? Like, is it 100% the same as Sheriff in terms of holding power? Is it stronger than Fettkopp extra strong?
@drshotzinternational6917
@drshotzinternational6917 Жыл бұрын
Hey there. There are differences regarding the classification with respect to the area you live in: - in Europe: we tend to be as precise as possible so „heavy“ in Europe is divided into: firm - strong- heavy or extra strong - in the anglo saxon area these 3 categories are summed up as heavy…. Therefore the pomadeshop uses this term for their English speaking customers. Regards

Unless the Maker of this pomade can proof the talc he uses is asbestos free in his country. then thats cool. How Asbestos Ends Up in Cosmetics Asbestos ends up in makeup because of poor regulations involving cosmetic-grade talc, which is also known as talcum powder. Talc and asbestos are minerals that form together. That means talc mined for commercial uses can be contaminated with asbestos - a known cause of lung cancer and mesothelioma. There is a long history of asbestos remaining in talc that is certified asbestos-free. Manufacturers don’t purposely add asbestos to cosmetics, but there is a lack of regulation around cosmetic-grade talc. Because of that relaxed oversight, no one is checking for the presence of asbestos. That means companies can get away with not testing their talc for asbestos before putting it into their products - possibly harming consumers. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not regulate cosmetic-grade talc. The federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938 does not require the FDA to review cosmetic products and their ingredients, with the exception of color additives. the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Fragrance Association (now known as the Personal Care Products Council) asked its members to use asbestos-free talc in their products. While the FDA says that it “considers it unacceptable for cosmetic talc to be contaminated with asbestos,” there are no U.S. laws or regulations that strictly prohibit talc used in consumer products from containing asbestos.

Not really that I don’t mind. But bringing caffeine into a solution where it is stable (and doesn’t appear as flakes) and can exert its hair growth stimulator effect is extremely (!!!) difficult. And the aforementioned chemical is a stabilizer and a dissolvent for it.
