Amazing how sexy a piece of wood with some metal and plastic can be.

After the shop he bought it from misrepresented it from the beginning, I would question everything they told me. Even down to the paperwork. What if Entwistle's was legit, and is still out there? Maybe the poor guy bought a copy/clone, but with legit paperwork? Entwistle's 59' could be sitting in a private collection somewhere. I'd be pissed! I would definitely want some answers.

Kit guitar with Ebay parts $7500.00 at best. +10k for star value provenance. $17,500 no more. Entwistle, RIP, was such a stoner no wonder he got ripped off on it. It doesn't sound that great. Steve Howe would sound like Steve Howe on a $250 guitar as a $250k guitar. Needs a DNA test. This guitar needs a sucker. Guy should sue the store in Canada he got it from and get his money back for selling him bogus wood.

It's worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. That's how value is established. The irony is that if the body and neck had actually been made in 1959 and all the other parts had been changed over the years, there would be no talk of faking. So what is a fake, finally?

Its awesome. .guitars are fun...dont need another sunburst for christ sakes. Once its a refin the damage is done. Bonvillian has made his stamp on the swirl...which is great. The uv paint and the way the mix is is incredible. Id buy it in a heartbeat. Theres a ton of sonic blue/fiesta red till your hearts content. Thats amazing too...there is room for this for sure. Im sure nobody woulda thought The Fool was the right thing to do at the time either....turned out only to be one of the most iconic instruments in history

My brothers had a friend, Lynn D, who had a 57 Chevy back in 63-64 and couldn’t understand why I didn’t want to date him. “But he’s got such a cool car!” lol. Jonathan had like a TR 1 or 3?? and Davey had an original Woodie, both cars could fit at least 1 surfboard. So cool to see this primo example of those daze. Thanks for sharing! Love Rod Runs where memories abound. Thanx for sharing.

Love this video! I grew up in Nashville, but based in Seattle for the past 20 years. Long-time Emerald City Guitars customer, too. (That Rivera-era Fender Concert amp I got from you guys a couple of months ago rocks!). 2:11 that unassuming castle-like building you drove by is my high school, Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School, one of the best public high schools in the nation sending 99% of its graduates to the nation's top colleges and universities. I love living in Seattle, but Nashville will always be home.

If you wonder why these vintage guitars are so overpriced, just imagine the overhead being applied to the price for these grifters travel and accommodations, a full time videographer etc.

Vintage guitars are overpriced because they only fall into the hands of those with wealth who dictate the price/market. I played a 59’ Les Paul a few years back for a few hours and it wasn’t anything special. It sounded great but so does a Gibson custom shop Les Paul. You’re paying top dollar for nostalgia and history, not the sound. You’d be surprised how many people I’ve met with amazing guitar collections that can barely play. Moral of this story is, focus on the music and achieving greatness with the instrument, not the instrument itself. ✌️
@BeantownToBigD4 күн бұрын
@@polskiist "You’d be surprised how many people I’ve met with amazing guitar collections that can barely play." That's like saying someone can't own a Picasso because he or she can't paint. Vintage guitars are overpriced because demand is greater than supply. I feel your pain but there are lots of wealthy people who started out with nothing and worked like dogs to achieve critical ma$$ and created lots of jobs. It's what makes America great and not Cuba, which doesn't have a vintage guitar market : ) I agree with your second comment about vintage vs. custom shop.

@@BeantownToBigD It’s not whining, I can actually afford these things. But I’m also not blind to the forces that drive their price. Shit like this is one of those factors. Educate yourself.
