Hey where can I get this? I couldn't find it on muse score
@pcr_shadows8393 Жыл бұрын
So like the one thing I think could make this better is, which is hard, is if say a trumpet took the trombone part at the beginning, and played it at the end, just up the octave. Just the sixteenth notes and a really high note

Your work isn't bad at all! Like you, I frequently use rhythmic figures I've heard in songs and even just in daily life (I once wrote a cadence based off of turbulence noises I heard while flying in an airplane), and I encourage you to continue to do that. Not only will it increase your competency with rhythms, but you will get so good at dissecting parts of songs and noises that you will be able to write out almost anything you hear. The next step is to try and take some of the rhythms you hear, and alter them to make your own unique rhythms or grooves. I generally start with the bass line, but you can start with any section of the ensemble. Next, I try to see how I can complement what I've created with the other instruments, and build that into the groove that I have in my head. I'll often write just the bass line part(s), grab my practice pad, and jam along until I play something that I like. My general rule of thumb is that I do not write anything that I cannot play myself. From there, I'll write that into the piece and move on to the next section- then wash, rinse, repeat, until I've created something that I like enough to publish. Remember to be patient. It's easy to get writer's block and say "good enough" and publish something that you know deep down inside you're not happy with. Taking your time is important, and I promise you that your ideas will always come together. Then, just keep listening. To songs, other drumlines, and within your life to find new inspiration! Good luck!

@@mattf4212 Wow! I really appreciate all of that, definitely some of the best advice I have ever received! I really like your strategy of writing the bass line then just playing along with. I think I'm going to try that with whatever I do next! Thanks a ton!

You might wanna add some tenor arounds. I mean, I like drum 4 and all, but the other drums need some love too
@mattf42122 жыл бұрын
You’re totally right haha. This was definitely one of my more “mediocre” cadences. When I wrote this, my tenor skill level was very very minimal so I only wrote things I could play. My newest cadences are far more advanced and much more musical than this lol. I’ll be posting two of them today so keep an eye out!!

Thank you so much, it means an incredible amount to me. I’ve always been a huge fan of Jan and his music. For years I have been trying to write arrangements just so I could play along. And trust me, I tried so hard to get it right but for life of me could not figure those two harmonies out!
