I have this exact same recipe. I tried key limes, regular limes and Nelly & Joe's Key West Lime juice. By far the best was when I used Nelly & Joe's and a regular lime for zest, and also for the glaze. I've been keeping lard around, so I will probably use that instead of shortening the next time I make one. It really is a delicious cake.

I don't typically do that so, I cannot speak to it. However, I have friends who do and have yet to hear of any problems. Enjoy!

That’s the best looking breakfast casserole yet! By mixing all the ingredients it just looks delicious! I have all the stuff to make it and tomorrow I’m gonna copy what you did. I just oven roasted some garlic, tomatoes and onions with herbs and will add some to the mixture. Thanks for the lovely inspiration!
