Hello , i am new in your channel congratulations 🎉 I have question please, i am living with my dutch partner and we would like to become a Dutch citizen for me to make it easy for your life , i live with my partner for a year now under partner residence (family member) for 5 years can we apply for me dutch citizen after 3 years of living together without marriage? And then we can marry in easy way as dutch citizens or we should have been married in these 3 years? Thank you

We sure did have messages and conversations before I went to the Philippines to meet my then girlfriend. It's so important to meet eachother face to face to see if things will work out 😁

How did she get to retain her country’s passport? I thought you had to have been living up to 15 years for that to be allowed? And if did not you had to renounce your countries passport… Im so confused.

Sorry for the late response. After 3 years in the Netherlands you can aply for Dutch citizenship already. You have to renounce your Filipine citizenship, unless you are married to a Dutch citizen. Regain your Filipine citizenship you can do at the Filipine Embassy in Den Haag.

If you are married you can keep your Filipine citizenship and ask for dual. If you are not married you have to renounce your Filipine citizenship as soon as you get your Dutch passport.

Congratulations...i have 1 qs..after 6 months when u recived letter from.IND..after dat how much time it takes u got ur citizenship?

In our case it was 6 weeks, but it can be up to 12.

Why did they refuse? Normally it is no problem, unless your boyfriend has a low income. He needs to be able to support you financially.

Hi Rachel, I have the same situation as you was and my question is. I live with my girlfriend and we are not married or registered partnership but just samenwonen and we live in same address. Is that ok also for the citizenship after 3 years? Dank je 😊

That should be enough. When she is 3 years legal in the country, she should be able to aply.

@@dutchpinaylife i will , in fact still 1 year left and i think they count the time when you register in the Gementee, am I right? Or they count when I get the residence permit??

You have to prove you were 3 years legal in the Netherlands. You do that by registering in a town at an address. . So they count from the day of registration. Only a visa does not prove that you were in the Netherlands, because you can stay in more European countries with your MVV. so yes, they told me they count from the day you are registered at an address.

Did any documents you used need an Apostille?

Yes, the birth certificate needs apostille, not older than 1 year I think, and the registry of marriage too. The last one you can get at the municipality of your town and has to be translated in 4 languages (!) , and apostilled at a court in the Netherlands. Which court you can go to depends on the area where you live. Search, because not every court does that. You can wait on that btw, they put apostille while you wait. No appointment needed. The cost is low.

Thank you for your kind comment. I wish you all the best and don't get discouraged by the things you have to do and learn to get to the Netherlands. Your goal is to be with your boyfriend and that makes all the hard study worth it! Keep us posted on how you are doing. We really would like to know. @@dutchpinaylife Quick update : So I received my basic exam results and I passed !! However 2 weeks ago, my bf broke up with me (He said I can't do this anymore) ..Now I'm left with a certificate, bitter memories, pain, regret and long sessions of therapy to heal and move on with my life ! ..Expectations really hurt 😔
