I really like your Jig. I hagve been making PVC bows for years, but have always just freehanded um. That jig would make the process way faster, easier, and the tiller way more consistatnt.

Does it bend in the handle? Also, is there any recoil? I like the wooden siyahs, nice touch. I make pvc bows myself, though I taper my bow's limbs with a different rig.

How did you figure out how to build your mold jig for forming PVC bows? Where did you get the template for the shape of your bow?

The comment on UV damage is real. I suggest keeping a good coating of UV rated paint on it. Prep by lightly abrading with medium sandpaper to clean the top milcules of plastic and to create a base of adhesion, wipe down with de-natured alchohol, then prime (or not) and paint. Oil based is best. Very warm temps can cause the bow to fold eventually as the material fatigues. Extreme cold temps can cause it to shatter. No reasons not to build one, though.

Been there, done that, too many times. PVC bows don't last. I've made too many, some good, some great. The great one shot so well I shot them a lot and they lasted six months to a year... and then shattered. PVC is subject to too much degradation - by ultraviolet light to differing temps- to last. They're good practice for making real bows but not for anything you want to last.

Hey stick with it Red!! I've had the same experience as you. I've got one that's 3 years old, all the others shattered. Sometimes it was my fault, other times it was like, "WTF I just shot 100 arrows with this bow yesterday and now it breaks when I'm stringing it like I always do?" Quality control on plumbers pipe has taken a drastic fall. Last time I picked up pipes from Home Depot, 9 out of 10 pipes I purchased were bad! The odds of purchasing fresh pipe now is stacked against you. Because of this, I've made the move to furniture grade pipe with is supposed to be 10x more shatter resistant. I'm also strengthening the areas where the bows have always broken: about 2 inches up from the handle. Backyard bowyer did a video where he talked about how it's getting harder and harder to pick up fresh pipe that hasn't been sitting outside all year. Furniture grade is sold in packages fresh and kept indoors.
