To improve the horrible feel of the remote buttons, fill the button cavities with epoxy, it removes the squishy feeling, and makes the remote feel as good as a minn kota remote. The heading sensor puck is also a must imo.

Looking like a reasonable choice, once you factor the price difference in. I don't mind replacing a module or two myself... and at several thousand less than the competitors it's a no brainer. Use Cruise Control mode for better speed control... you can adjust speed by 0.2kmh. Use course or bearing mode to track along a bank when fishing. I didn''t do this when I first got mine, recommend taking the time to learn how to use these modes it makes it so much easier to fish, I now use it all the time. The GPS module also makes a huge difference. It should be part of the motor and not an additional accessory.
