As someone with autism YES YES YES this would have been so helpful for me! Parents! Yes meltdowns are exhausting for you but they are also exhausting for us! We dont WANT to have meltdowns they just happen! Everytime i had severe meltdowns i had to have naps because they drained me mentally and physically! Even at school they allowed me to have naps in the resource room to get me reset and ready for class!

My son never took to signing and I don’t think he understands what more means... it’s kinda abstract for some of our kids to grasp as an initial entry to communication. In my opinion….core language seems abstract in general. But I guess everyone is different.

Wonder if there is any kind of correlation with early heavy screen time and autism like symptoms - like a kid watching tv constantly may not talk, caused by nurture and not nature

You should also point out that symptoms of autism are quite similar to hearing loss.

It is so important to let our young generations learn and understand the connections about the Loss of Nature, how it affects the Economy, our Culture and our daily life as individuals. It is so important they learn about protecting our bio diversity, our eco systems, our forests, our insects, our water ways, our salt marshes, our wetlands, our oceans. The roles they all play and the impact of pollution.

As a toddler I used to lay on the ground, bang my forehead on the floor with my fists and kicking my legs. I would often have a bruised, cut and swollen head. Eventually my Mum just didn’t respond by giving me my own way, but just said “what you’re doing to yourself now is more painful than anything else that’s happening right now.”, “that must really hurt your head, you’re doing that to yourself”! Anyway I carried on for a good while afterwards and when I realised I wasn’t getting what I wanted, and she was actually right I never did it again. I don’t know how I remember that. I could only have been about 2-3 years old.

This is really new to me, I found out about this condition a couple of days ago. My son is 2 and a half, and he started to count numbers and do recognition of numbers, letters, shapes, etc, at age one. now at two and a half, he is doing simple addition, he is reading he spells. However, he was assessed for autism and I will have his results tomorrow. He is currently taking speech therapy to help his receptive language. He started to say words like momma, dada, daddy, tita, no, and ok as early as 7 months old. Sometimes the only way to know what he wants is when I give him choices. But I'm kind of concerned because I thought that reinforcing his learning was good, now I have to do my own research and help him with it. When I have taken to the doctor he always allows his doctor to look into his ears or nose but not his mouth.

I also will say, a child with “high functioning “ autism that is “gifted” and also not given the accommodations that they need (not diagnosed, or even diagnosed and not understood and forced to “impress”) will end up pushing themselves into burnout, and crashing later on…I speak from personal experience, and witnessing others 🥲

Ug, so which is it? I studied so many books, watched so many videos. Everyone says do something different. Do use sign language, don't use it. IDK what to do anymore!!!!!

@@soulcandyalmadulce5885 , Sadly, I feel like since teaching my kid sign language with speaking and his ABC's, he speaks less. Just as she says in the video they will if using "more" too much. It's concerning so I may stop completely till he is a little older. Like, perhaps 5 or 6. Thank you very much for your comment. <3

Sign is great!! She’s not trying to say it’s bad, just that “more” is … empty?? It can work fine it’s not the end of the world to teach it, it just doesn’t communicate much for lack of a better word. My mom does speech therapy and always said the exact same thing. But signing is great!! And signed words count as words that your child knows :) it’s so frustrating getting conflicting info tho I totally get it ♥️ parenting is hard and we all just want the best for our babies!!
@forestspritestephanie6 күн бұрын
@@elsie3724 , I heard that. Thank you. Maybe you can help me. How can I get him to speak more with signing? My son is 3 and 2 months; already knows his abcs, signs them all. But is signing for everything, signing milk, bath, bed, play, walk, even I love you, instead of saying it like he was. Because he is able to now sign all the words I taught him, he will sign single words, and wont learn new combinations of sentences than he already knows. I'm trying to be patient, and let him catch up on his own. I didn't talk till I was 5 so I am trying my best!!! My family, and even his pediatrician says he is doing good. But I can't help seeing other kids his age talking much more and feeling behind.

@@forestspritestephanie it is SO hard not to compare - I’m a mom too and my daughter didn’t talk much until about 3. Your son sounds like he’s doing amazing though, honestly! I’m not a dr or speech pathologist so I can’t offer much but what my mom has always shared. And her two main things she always said was 1. Early intervention is best so if you want to see a speech pathologist, even if they just help ease your worries, do it! Your child is still the exact same even if there was a concern, a diagnosis or acknowledgement of something just helps getting you a clearer picture and resources etc. And 2. If they are meeting other milestones and interact and play etc “normally” then that’s another great sign!! :) You’re doing great ♥️ have you ever watched Bluey? It may seem silly but there is an episode called “Baby Race” that really touches on this topic. It’s sooo easy for me or someone else to say not to worry, I know ♥️ you are doing amazing.

Can 16 month old watch ms Rachel? If yes what duration do you recommend? Do you think letting the toddler watch ms Rachel for 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening is causing speech delay ?
