Sydney is quite a large city but is surrounded by large national parks, someone had foresight when these parks came into existence in the 20's, 30's and 50's. Would not happen today the land far too valuable. The cockies live in the parks and have worked out the humans within the city are a valuable source of food, so only a short daily commute to a large selection of "cocky cafes". Cockatoos are brilliant & intelligent things, feed them good stuff (almonds etc) and in moderation.

Just so you know, you should only pet birds on their head. Petting of the wings, back or tail area is interpreted as sexual stimulation/foreplay

These particular birds live off human homes daily. They are bums. They neither hunt nor forage and are unemployed.

They're like stray cats there in Australia, they're everywhere (love cats, by the way). Beautiful birds (love them too). How do they stay so white as wild birds? Would love to visit Australia someday, would love to live there.

I have a cockatiel and she cleans herself all the time, just as the cockatoos do probably. They use some kind of powder that's deep inside their feathers and naturally smells pleasant.

it is hard to truly appreciate an animal's beauty until you see it wild. these birds should never be held captive.

I'm buying the playful hypothesis. When you look frame-by-frame, it appears to be a closed-beak nudge. I have a feeling if that thing really wanted his finger, our human friend would be far too slow to do much about it.
