Edith and Louise clearly loved and appreciated one another. And, deep down, even though I very highly doubt either one of them would ever admit to it, I believe George and Archie did as well.

I forgot how good this show was. Now it's true they just don't make em like this anymore. Norman Lear, Carol O'Connor, Jean stapleton. The show had a good run though.

The ironic part of this is him Talking to Edith about his funeral and not being there anymore and what he wants her to do, and just a few years later it’s HIM dealing with all that, after she passes.

I dated a girl who put on shoes like this. I too found it too weird to live with. I'm not proud, but I understand Archie's frustration.

Fred Silverman. Same guy who gave the World the "Happy Days" Spinoff "Laverne and Shirley." Or the exact same guy who gave the World "The Love Boat" knockoff and immediate Television Classic "Supertrain." Seriously, has this Show ever been seen anywhere in Syndication? Ever? Straight down there with making BLONDE Cathy Lee Crosby "Wonder Woman!"😂🤣😂🤦‍♂️😘🚢🚅🛤🇺🇸📺B.W.

Clever script. Weird to end it with an unresolved fight in progress. Also, it woulda been fun to see and episode where those relatives visited and stayed overnight. Hugs!!

I love the talk that Edith had with Gloria. She was so sweet & understanding. I wish I had had a mother like that. The Bunkers were truly a wonderful family. TY for sharing this. God Bless You & stay safe.

There's actually a reason why the character of stretch Cunningham was killed off because there was a contract dispute between the producers and Carol O'Connell who plays Archie Bunker, in fact the episodes of Archie's missing and where's Archie, we wrote those episodes because of the contract dispute and the producers they didn't really think that it that there were going to come to terms with Carol connell so much so that the character Archie Bunker was supposed to be killed off, and that the character stretch Cunningham was going to move in and help with Edith Mike and Gloria.... But thank God they finally came to terms and Carol O'Connell decided to come back but the story doesn't stop there, Carol O'Connell notice that the audience really did like the character stretch Cunningham that was portrayed by James Cromwell, and Carol O'Connor didn't really like that at all so it is said that one of his conditions on him coming back was to kill off the stretch Cunningham character....and James Crowell said that that was one of the best things to happen to his career because he had a long career in movies like The Green Mile when he played the warden, in fact he is still alive today at the age of 84, but it just shows you of how close it really came of having killed off the character of Archie Bunker it's considered one of the greatest characters in television history.

I remember seeing this premier. It was rather late, I was in HS and I was the only one up in the house. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I wanted to run around waking everyone up. So groundbreaking. Yeah. Those were the days.

Edith’s death is a reminder, treat our loved ones with love while they’re here. Bunks emotions were filled with deep regret because he treated her mostly like dirt.

One thing about O'Connor, was his ability to keep a straight face, no matter what line he had to say. Many others would have faltered. It's almost mind-boggling to consider, that before All in the Family, he was a relative unknown, only to become monumentally famous.
