Lead singer / songwriter Lee was a perfectionist, an Artist and a scally all in one. He wasn't really cutout for fame and all the BS involved in making and selling records. But he sure could write a tune

I met Lee Mavers and John drinking in a pub on Lark Lane; The Albert it was, back in 2010 or thereabouts. They were both really humble men and kind of embarrassed by my friendly, gregarious nature towards them, as I’ve always been unaffected by other people’s apparent fame or class taking people as I find them real or fake. Anyway I remember saying how I believed *There She Goes* to be an all time classic and even got Lee singing a few lines and John was just a really cool fella. John even explained how things were back in the day when The LA’s were coming up and Lee wrote “There She Goes”. Lee said he had a heroin habit and how he’d buy £5 bags and how strong it was etc. He claimed the song *was* about heroin as some do claim. The reason I mention it is because when I was 17 I started on heroin myself and am still paying the price, albeit with a Methadone script. My life is fine these days and stable as they say, but I didn’t half waste some money and time on crack cocaine and heroin. They ended up going back to a house just around the corner from my flat which was on Marmion Road behind Lark Lane for a little party but an out of work actor known for having a bit-part in Brookside (an old Liverpool soap opera), who was with them wouldn’t let me come (he was one arrogant guy), even though Lee said “are you coming over” to me. He wanted them all to himself I think, but they themselves were a different class and totally sound.. As we say in the pool.

2 things... 1) This is the most English thing I've ever seen and 2) I think that after 30 years or so of this being one of my favorite songs, I just figured out that it's probably about drugs.
