I’m late to the party lol.I bought the blue panel Spider Wraith several years ago and.Iv completely upgraded almost everything the only thing that’s still a wraith is the frame but I turned it into a fast back SSD metal axles driveshafts sway bar and the list goes on I’m always looking for ways to make it better I’ve always enjoyed taking from stock to finding ways to make it better even the driver and his steering wheel works well cut and made my own stainless steel panels the stock esc was replaced with a hobbywing 80 amp I don’t the gears but it’s will get up and go just finished adding a sway bar because of the torque kept pulling the front tires of the ground on the drivers side.Replaced the plastic stock shocks with some 90mm metal scale shocks ended up using the medium springs that came with the king shocks and filled them with 80 % shock oil took a while to get them tuned.Because I don’t have mountain trails.But I do have a ton of fun running it on the beach sealed bearings keeps the sand from eating up the gearsAnd it’s completely water proof so if the tide comes in while I’m in a trail in the sand it will keep going I didn’t program the esc to crawl but to run fast enough that I get a good workout and it’s set up for the sand that has all kinds of different types of hills holes and it’s not a smooth sanded beach but it’s a lot of fun

Hey RCTogether, just got the Yeti second hand and wanting to upgrade the driveshafts. I saw the part number for it (thank you), however I’m having trouble finding the female end to attach to the output drive or axle. Is there a part number for that as well? I’m a bit late to the party so I hope you see and can answer this 😅
@RCTogether4 ай бұрын
For the Axial Yeti, the part you're referring to sounds like the female end of the universal drive shaft that connects to both the axle and the output drive. This component is often referred to as the "drive shaft coupler" or "female half shaft." The part number you’re looking for is **AX31100**. This part is part of the Yeti's universal drive shaft set, which includes the female half shafts, male half shafts, and other necessary components for the drive shafts. Ensure to check the specific version and any potential upgrades or alternatives available depending on your exact model and setup. Good luck with your build!!

@@RCTogether the legend responds! So if I buy the Traxxas TRA5451X and pair it with Axial AX31100 that’s all I require to do the driveshaft upgrade like what you have done in the video? When I search Axial AX31100 on google, all I get is skid plate for AX10… Thank you again for responding!

OK, I checked with the owner of the yeti that I shot that video with. What you’re looking for is the Traxxas 5458x yokes. You will need to drill the center out to 5 mm and remove the flat spots. We think when I initially responded I forgot that he had switched that over to Traxxas drive so sorry for the misinformation initially. Hopefully this helps but it was somewhat of a modification minimum budget build, so play around with it and get that thing running and get out there and have some fun buddy!

Thanks for the feedback, I went into this test, not being sure, but thinking I would prefer the weight in the rear, so I was surprised by the result. Of course it’s all personal preference and heavily dependent on the type of rig and build. The good news is the weights that I took off the rear wheels of the nightcrawler ended up being used in the front wheels of the new SCX 10ii cage build that I am working on.

Theres no stoping this thing. Wish somebody would start making some Metal or Kevlar 3D printed Worm gears. Only thing im worried about.

That sounds like a really good set up, I think I just had a little too much weight in the rear. I also agree with you on the worm gears I think about that quite a bit, so I just make sure to service them regularly to make sure they’re staying in good shape, also I appreciate you mentioning the 22mm extensions from Injora, I was wanting to test those out as well.

My buddies have redcats and ive been smokin them on every crawling run weve setup. Why did they ever discontinue such a great Crawler, one of the best in my mind? Im currently thinking to upgrade motor hobbywing fusion 1200kv and Servo to Hitech 7955tg. I ask myself am i about to put too much $ into this old antique or should i jus do a fresh new build. But then i think this crawler does such a great job and i want to make it even better. 😂🤦♂️

Funny you should ask, I am going to be working on a video of the full 2024 rebuild of this unit I bought back in 2011 when it first released. However, since you asked... Spektrum Firma 60A Brushless Smart ESC / 2100Kv Sensored Motor Crawler Combo, SPMXSEMC08. I will go over it in more detail when I do the video, but as you can tell in the footage it can slow crawl with the best of them, but has gobs of wheel speed if/when you need it. Good luck on your Wraith brushless conversion!

Does you still run the yeti?
@RCTogether10 ай бұрын
I do not run a yeti, and the yeti that was on my channel was actually owned by another driver. So I don’t have a ton of knowledge on the yeti as a platform and once I learned more about its configuration, at least in the RTR form, I realized it really wasn’t the kind of rig for me, because by design, it’s not a rock crawler however, as you may have seen in some of the videos, Marcus, the actual owner and driver continue to make changes to it to allow it to become more of a rock crawler, but in my opinion, there are just better rigs for strictly rock crawling. And you’ve also given me a good idea as I’m getting back into the channel. Perhaps a good video to do soon would be a rundown of the rigs that I currently own today 10 years later. Most of the rigs are ones that ever restored from when I ran the channel 10 years ago, but there may be some new stuff as well, which will make for a fun video
@gmummy10 ай бұрын
Most definitely, an update video would behoove your audience from all the time that has passed. I know you're mainly a crawler channel. However, the yeti has been an obsession since day one. Currently have 3 highly modified yetis that I run regularly as to what drew me to your channel even though it doesn't belong to you, the Intel provided at the time was before it's time as far as mods go. I will still be a regular viewer of your content. Much appreciated it!

@RCTogether10 ай бұрын
Sometimes you may reach the limit of what the car or truck can handle and generally you can find documentation online or in the manual that will let you know how high you can go of a tooth for any given gear. Now if you’re hacking if you’re trying to get a bigger tooth on your Motor and it’s just a little too tight but fits you can get a Dremel and take away a little bit of the material that allows for the motor to be slid just a little farther away so that you can get the right space and not have it too tight. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Those are good suggestions from the community, as an example when I got my Losi nightcrawler 2.0 I immediately replaced the speed controller with one out of an axial SCX 10 and more recently I have replaced the motor the stock motor with a Holmes hobby 55 turn brushed And I run on 2S Lipo with no issues. Well, obviously the TSL did best where its designed to do best and the Wild Peak did best where its designed to shine. The tsl cleared the dirt away better and the lugs were able to grab onto sticks branches or stones easier to pull it along. The Wild Peak with its tighter pattern had way better grip on the concrete climb. Obviously where tire contact is king.

My all-time favorite is probably still the TSL super swamper in G8 compound either for 1.9 or 2.2 rigs.
