@@michaelt2961 Hi Michael, it's 25 mins per lb of meat, with the first 25 mins at 390F and all the remaining time at 320F. 4lbs is quite a big joint. A 4lb joint should be cooked for 25mins at 390F, then 75mins at 320F. It may be cooked sooner, so if you've got a meat thermometer, check it after 60 mins during the second cook. Be sure to rest it for 15 mins before carving. Enjoy! 😉👍

@AirFryerFella3 ай бұрын
@@rockythepitball Hi, no, don't flip or turn it at all. It stays crackling side up throughout. Firstly, if you flip it so the crackling ended up on the bottom, all the moistures and juices will run down and make the crackling go soggy - you want the crackling to dry out and crisp. Secondly, most air fryers have a single top heating element, so you want the crackling to be facing up so the downward heat from the element will crisp it up, and the circulating air from the fan will cook the joint through perfectly. 😉👍

@AirFryerFella4 ай бұрын
@@josephk.9567 I would've thought 1kg would be fine. In my review I used 600g of potatoes and this was enough to just cover the bottom of the basket, so an additional 400g should be easy. Comparring the Dual Blaze against the Ninja DZ550 (dual basket smart cook), what are your thoughts? I just got the DZ550 and love it but the baskets are smaller than I imagined. Don't necessarily want to return but would you suggest I look into having both options set up?
@AirFryerFella4 ай бұрын
@@hanzofps1119 well, I have them both and love them both. My Ninja is the AF400, which is the large dual basket model without the probe, but it's still probably the one I would recommend first because of it's versatility. Having two baskets opens up so many more opportunities and is brilliant for cooking two different foods at two different temperatures at the same time ...but, of course you do have 2 much smaller baskets rather than one large one, which can be limiting. The Ninja cooks food hot and fast, but it does needs flipping and turning regularly. The Dual Blaze on the other hand gives me that one larger basket when I need it and out of the two, cooks food right through and thoroughly with minimal to no flipping or turning. Having the additional lower element is a game changer. I do a lot of baking in mine and because of the dual elements, it does things the Ninja (or any other air fryer) simply won't do. Having dual elements makes it more like a compact fan assisted oven and it is my day-to-day go to machine. I can put stuffed peppers in the Dual Blaze and they're cooked from top to bottom in 15 mins (they'd take 30 mins in the oven - and you can't flip them over in a regular air fryer because the insides would fall out) I can put a portion of chips in the Dual Blaze and forget about them ...and a 20cm square homemade cake is baked to perfection in 30 mins. The Cosori is my favourite, but the Ninja is still the best all round model to go for as your first air fryer so you made the right purchase. If you now bought a Cosori Dual Blaze, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised! It's excellent. I don't necessarily have them both on at the same time however. If you have a lot of food to cook all at the same time, it makes sense to just use your regular oven, but be aware that if you do have the Ninja and Dual Blaze both on at the same time, they will draw about 3.5KW or 15amp, so you'll need to check if that's compatible with the sockets and ring main in your home. In the UK, we're on 240v and a double socket will handle about 20amps - an entire kitchen ring main will take about 7.5kw, so it's generally ok, but just be aware of this as I know it does vary from country to country 😉👍
@hanzofps11193 ай бұрын
@@AirFryerFella Thank you for such a detailed and considerate response! Very thoughtful for you to go out of your way and break it down in such detail, especially the power output, that was another concern of mine. The Ninja has grown on me as I'm using it multiple times a day but I believe you're right, I'm going to get the dual blaze as well a bit down the line when I start doing larger meal prep rather than the current on demand cooking. The other reason beside all the key advertised features that makes me want the dual blaze so badly is the wider range of temps and smaller incremental choices you can make. Super bummed out I'm locked into preset 350, 360, 375, 390, and 400 options with the Ninja as I'd really love to cook certain foods above 400(f) or some dishes at the 370/380 mark. Thanks again! I am a bit confused by your timings. I have a 1.5 kilo joint so based on 25 mins per 450g my joint will take 75 minutes ? so 35 mins at 200c then 40 mins at 160c . or should I just check internal temp when 30 mins into the 160c phase ? Thank you
@AirFryerFella4 ай бұрын
@@MikeNJillPotter Hi, work on around 25 mins per 1lb/450g of meat. The first 25 mins should be cooked at 200°C, and the remaining time should be cooked at 160°C. So, your 1.5kg joint will require approx 83 mins of cooking time (25 mins per 450g = 75mins for 1.35kg of meat + 8 mins for the remaining 150g = 83 mins total) You would cook on 'Roast' at 200°C for 25mins, then reduce temp to 160°C for a further 58 mins. All air fryers are different - even just a difference in fan speed can affect cooking results. If you feel the joint is looking well cooked before the end time, then insert your thermometer into the thickest part of the meat and if it reads 65°C, it's cooked and you're good to go. If not, put it back in and continue with the cooking time.
