this is honestly crazy, dial tone is blatently the "freedom" motif so this ties the "freedom" motif to him DIRECTLY, i always thought the freedom motif was gonna be tied into the story by appearing when certain themes show up being a calling card for the themes deltarune is presenting, and by proxy have a relationship to gaster because he also represents those themes. I never expected it to be so DIRECTLY tied to gaster where the "freedom" motif could just BLATENTLY be his theme, the "gaster theme" we know from undertale could just be a distorted version of freedom, and freedom is the original song before he got "shattered" or whatever, making us see the aftermath, and the ONLY semblance we can find of gaster existing and being broken, his broken theme song, seems like a fun idea and i can see making the theme songs diagetic to the game being something toby would do, making EVERY part of him shatter, everything in the code related to him

maybe this also lends to gasters motive? maybe his motive is LITTERALLY just "freedom" getting out of wherever he is stuck in at whatever the cost, allbeit this is seperate from the first tangent, and im starting from an answer and working backwards but its still a fun thought

this also lends itself to undertale because he is seemingly the one who did the amalgamation experiments (in the entry talking ab the dt experiments, the writer mentions the queen leaving, which alphys had NEVER met her until the end and was only made the scientist long after she left) so second to asgore, he would be the most obsessed with "freedom" from the underground

That's the world revolving leitmotif that can be heard before don't forget leitmotif, ive seen notes of both soundtracks. If you delete "the circus" notes in dialtone, make long notes shorter and speed up a little, it will become literally that the world revolving leitmotif. The moment you've shown is very close to freedom motif, but that's not exactly it. And yes, there's a gaster leitmotif, it played in almost every soundtrack.
