Sounds like an American guitar, but with more overtones. Leave it to Australians to male a better American guitar than the Americans.

Why do most Maton guitars I pick up in stores have crazy high action? I understand everyone will have their own preferences and setup too their own liking but these are way off !

great example of getting out from under the (still held to this day) wrong idea that we can't compete with overseas. It is just not true. Never has been. Maton have shown this in there commercial space as do so many other Australian businesses. Well done Maton.

I'm from England and have used Hiscox for thirty plus years awesome never had any damage with one and the last twelve years they have flown to Aus and back probably 15 times also all over Aus as I work throughout the contrty so they get well used I'm now the prowd owner of a beautiful Maton EM325C and it will eventually live in a Hiscox case, it came with a TKL hardcase not a patch on the Hiscox in my opinion. treat yourself and your guitar get a Hiscox!

I've had mine for four years now. After a bit of research on pickups, I fitted a journey instruments pickup under the bridge and this guitar regularly gets complimented for its sound. The journey instruments pickup with just the three piezo under the bridge and 1/4" socket out of the rear strap mount meant no bulky or unreliable electronics. It sounds really nice through the P.A. and I add limited effects through an A1X-Four. It's been doing three set gig most weekends over the last 18 months and the guitar and its sound just fits me like a glove.

Anyone here can tell me how the acoustic sound from this compares to an 808?
@zvonimirtosic61716 сағат бұрын
ER90 was made for the American market first. So it's a shallower OM-like design, which should theoretically have a faster response. But .. this one appears to be better than the typical American-made OM, as it has more overtones and sparkle than most American OMs I have heard. It's better than American-made OM, most definitely. So I'd guess this guitar has a faster response and broader spread than 808.
@vyvynylification6 сағат бұрын
@@zvonimirtosic6171 I have tested one in the meantime for a few weeks, after having owned 3 maton messiah 808s. I liked their body: shaped like an OM but deeper (yet slightly less deep than the 808). However, the matte finish felt horrible to me, so rough! The sound was a bit bland and honestly: i preferred the messiah by miles even if Er90 traditional was louder acoustically. If they made a messiah traditional... now that would be a guitar I'd buy in a heartbeat
@zvonimirtosic61715 сағат бұрын
@@vyvynylification Maybe to the player 808 is more appealing because of its compactness and layered tone.
@vyvynylification5 сағат бұрын
@@zvonimirtosic6171 I'm sure some will prefer the ER90 trad. I want to point out it was just my opinion! By no means a bad guitar :)

I went to the Maton factory to try, at the time a 325 (now superseded). I played the 325 & its was great, in budget etc. Whilst I was hanging up the 325, one of the 'makers' came out the factory area & said, 'just finished this Messiah, do you want to try it'? Sure, I'll try it. I strummed a simple C chord, thats my level, literally, just one strum, 'that's the guitar I want.' So ordered the dreadnought. Had it now since 2005. The best guitar Ive ever owned. Ive heard they call it the 'Messiah', because when you play it, you say to yourself 'Jesus christ'! That sounds unbelievable.! I still cant believe it.
@ContemplativeCat7 ай бұрын
If you purchased it in 2005 that would make it around 19 years old now, almost vintage (20 years is vintage). They age like fine wine, so I'm sure your Messiah has taken on that darker golden appearance by now and sounds more gorgeous today than it did in 2005!

Sounds great! How do the dimensions compare to the 808 model?
@alexcorll9011 ай бұрын
I think it's close to a traditional OM shape, so 1inch larger lower bout, and bout 1/2inch thinner body depth, so the depth is closer to 4" and the lower bout is around 14 3/4 -15in. The 808 is more or less a deep body 00 size.

i love my ebg808TE. i've been playing since 1972 and i started off with the lightest ernie ball gauge electric guitar strings on a framus texan (ernie ball apparently came up withe idea of different gauges for differences styles) and i've used all sorts since, d'addario were my favs until i bought a martin, then i used martin pretty much exclusively (i've had about60 guitars since 2013) but at the moment the six guitars i "keep" have different makes on all of them - when you're buying a guitar try as many as you can cos one will jump out at you sooner or later, and same with strings, try as many types, and gauges, as you can until you find the one that suits you. 12-54 is great if you have strong hands, i have little girlie hands so i compromise with 11-52, i used to use 10-48 at one point, but now i find them a bit "jangly" but 12's are too much. i have some videos of my maton on my channel.
