Anyone here can tell me how the acoustic sound from this compares to an 808?

I have a 2022 Messiah 808 with cutaway. Mine doesn't have the nice binding like this even though I explicitly asked for it but it sure plays nice

Great to see this. Maton guitars certainly do have a particular 'zing' sound to them, that is a good way to put it!

I went to the Maton factory to try, at the time a 325 (now superseded). I played the 325 & its was great, in budget etc. Whilst I was hanging up the 325, one of the 'makers' came out the factory area & said, 'just finished this Messiah, do you want to try it'? Sure, I'll try it. I strummed a simple C chord, thats my level, literally, just one strum, 'that's the guitar I want.' So ordered the dreadnought. Had it now since 2005. The best guitar Ive ever owned. Ive heard they call it the 'Messiah', because when you play it, you say to yourself 'Jesus christ'! That sounds unbelievable.! I still cant believe it.
@ContemplativeCat4 ай бұрын
If you purchased it in 2005 that would make it around 19 years old now, almost vintage (20 years is vintage). They age like fine wine, so I'm sure your Messiah has taken on that darker golden appearance by now and sounds more gorgeous today than it did in 2005!

Sounds great! How do the dimensions compare to the 808 model?
@alexcorll907 ай бұрын
I think it's close to a traditional OM shape, so 1inch larger lower bout, and bout 1/2inch thinner body depth, so the depth is closer to 4" and the lower bout is around 14 3/4 -15in. The 808 is more or less a deep body 00 size.

i love my ebg808TE. i've been playing since 1972 and i started off with the lightest ernie ball gauge electric guitar strings on a framus texan (ernie ball apparently came up withe idea of different gauges for differences styles) and i've used all sorts since, d'addario were my favs until i bought a martin, then i used martin pretty much exclusively (i've had about60 guitars since 2013) but at the moment the six guitars i "keep" have different makes on all of them - when you're buying a guitar try as many as you can cos one will jump out at you sooner or later, and same with strings, try as many types, and gauges, as you can until you find the one that suits you. 12-54 is great if you have strong hands, i have little girlie hands so i compromise with 11-52, i used to use 10-48 at one point, but now i find them a bit "jangly" but 12's are too much. i have some videos of my maton on my channel.

I've got an AP5 here that's well used and it's making a noise like a dirty connection or potentiometer. After cleaning everything with CRC-2-26 (a professional contact cleaner) the sliders are VERY stiff which I've never seen before because 2-26 is also a lubricant. Help please.

They are worth the money. Buy once, cry once that's what they say, and they are damn well right. they aren't the cheapest, but they aren't the most expensive either and when you consider the engineering and design that goes into them they are a bargain. I have 9 or 10 of their casesand they have never let me down.

The botanical name for Australian Blackwood is Acacia melanoxylon. The botanical name for Hawaiian Koa wood is Acacia Koa. Therefroe, Australian Blackwood is simply Australian Black Koa. You say that this acoustical wood performs great throughout the guitar's range - bottom, middle and top - but listening to this video, the bottom doesn't come through nearly as strongly as the middle and the top, which seem to take center stage.
