I does have an FM radio function, but you must connect a 3.5mm set of headphones. I just tested it and it found all of my local stations, switches between them easily. The specific app is called "com.sec.android.app.fm" that's part of the factory OS.

So... It will run good in Medium / 60 fps - Low / 60 FPS? I'm looking for a phone to play it on the go, My budget is around 200 USD and honestly don't mind looking for a used one of these.
@polymatrix
@polymatrix 9 ай бұрын
So looking at my notes, for Honkai Starrail it's really sticks to 30-60, hovering around the low 40s, at the Low preset. For $200-ish, on eBay (assuming you're in the US) you can find used Pixel 7 or 7a which has a significantly better GPU, so I'd probably point you that route. The Pixels have fewer running background processes compared to the Galaxy A-series, Samsung puts a lot of bloat on there which can eat up CPU cycles & available RAM. If you run a debloat script or are meticulous about uninstalling/disabling the Samsung apps it might not matter. If you want Samsung specifically, or that's all thats in your market, I might push you towards the Galaxy A35, it's only $20-$30 & has a better overall GPU. The experience at Low will get you closer to 60FPS (doubt it will still hit that consistently)

Armbian installs and boots normally on a NVME with Tow-Boot installed on the SPI. Edit: I found a NVME SSD that has the lowest power consumption of the ones I've tried in my PineBook Pro. It's the Patriot P310 240GB (Power Consumption: Full: 2.38W Idle: 0.38W). While not as efficient as EMMC, it's noticeably better than the WD Green NVME I used to run, especially at idle.

Does Tow-Boot automatically boots to NVMe? Or do you have to manually select the SSD from the menu every time you turn on the Pinebook Pro?

It's a bit better, but the real bottleneck is the SoC. The initial load form the NVMe is quite fast. But once anything is loaded into RAM the performance compared to the eMMC/microSD isn't notable.

I think if you consider the phone for what it is - a mid-range device, that gets the core features right for most customers - then it's very good for what it is. But if you expect it to be a high-performer for a low cost, you've put the wrong expectations on the device. That is to say: it's not an A54 at a discount price. Instead, it's a competent moderately-priced phone.

I don't have this phone anymore, and I really wish I'd kept it. What I recall is that TWRP doesn't officially support this model of BLU, but it works. It was very frustrating getting it to boot to the GSI but I think I ended up wiping every partition, recovery included, and at some point I got the recovery partition unlocked to install the GSI image. Once at that point you can install any compatible Android image; typically just a GSI.

@polymatrix
@polymatrix Жыл бұрын
As someone else mentioned: the dev removed some of the power management features. I don't know that for sure but it seems completely believable. If that type of feature can be reintroduced that would be great, but I know some people don't think it's worth it if any type of telemetry is returned to Microsoft.
@marsovac
@marsovac Жыл бұрын
They stripped hardware acceleration and power handling services in order to make it run on low RAM. Windows 11 out of the box is quite power efficient, so doing that can only hurt. Also what you call spyware ... telemetry or windows services that require the internet occasionally send a web request of a few kilobyte. That barely influences the measurements. I keep them on, at least I get a working "Find my device" for the laptop, if it ever gets stolen.

This system is using an ARM-based CPU, not an x86/64 which makes the options for software somewhat more limited. For now, I don't think this is the best option for you. With the new Windows On ARM initiative that may change in the future, but even by then I think there will be cheaper & more powerful options. @polymatrix
@polymatrix 2 жыл бұрын
A single 8GB module is going to be the RAM limit. As for the SSD: does your model have the SATA connector on it? If so, then a 1TB SSD shouldn't be a problem. If you don't have the SATA connector you'll have to get an adapter for your WiFi card slot to put in an SSD. Please note there is some back & forth on the Dell forums about how (if at all) you can use the SSD as the primary boot drive. For a 2022 WiFi: another gentleman in the comments suggested an Intel AC8265. When I looked it up it's a model release in 2016 instead of the 2014 wifi card I used in this video.
