We need a F-Zero X 99

Playing through the stage rn, I think You’ll go higher if you have a bit of momentum going before the jumpers activate. Not 100% sure though

@@lukirby5173 about a month ago, I finally got the red goal and I found out something strange… every third push of the jumpers sends you the highest. Idk why this happens but it does.

⁠That’s so weird. Luckily it’s not that hard to get to the red goal imo, but it’s strange that the jumpers work like that.

@@jameshurricane3169Lmao, can’t blame you. Trust me though, I’m definitely not skilled at this game yet. Recently got back into it a couple days ago and I’ve been having a ton of fun. SMB1 expert and marathon challenge mode absolutely kicked my ass though.

Yeah, I never really had the motivation to optimise a 25 year old game. A machine with a good body and boost is good enough for me to beat master mode.

I can't say for sure since I've never tried them on real hardware. From what I’ve read, the Everdrive can automatically patch any IPS or APS files. The linked file is a BPS file though, so I don’t know if it can work simply by putting it in the SD card. It might be easier to patch the F-Zero X ROM with the linked file yourself, then put the modified ROM on the SD Card.

​@@Teuntjuhh yeah, the checkpoints know which part you are in and makes any track that isnt where you're supposed to be non-interactable. If a section of a track happens later in the lap you cant interact with it until you get every checkpoint before it, even if you can see it.

Yeah, I just saw KZbin has recently blocked non ''verified'' creators from putting external links. I found a quick fix for now but I'll look into it.

I'm running the game on RetroArch which uses Muplen64Plus.

Probably a problem with the english patch. The Expansion kit is in japanese only, which would make track creation way harder without the patch.

@@DavidZSM I used to have this problem running the english patch on Project64. I fixed it by unchecking "Emulate frame buffer" in the graphics plugin settings for GLide64.

I remade the tracks point by point with the exact same coordinates. It can be pretty long to do but it's the only way I know of. I personally use a recording software to record a clip where I go over every CTL point so I can pause the video and type the coordinates in FZEP. It's quicker and more reliable than writing every coordinates of every point manually.

Thanks, happy to see people sharing my love of custom F-Zero X content. As for the way these specific tracks look, they all have the night theme. Gives a distinct feeling to the track and background objects that are meant for a day themed track emits a crazy multicolored glow. You can't go wrong with the night sky palette lmao Also, I made the crescent moon track flat and upside down to give the illusion that you’re in outer space and not above water. The way the glowing planets in the background appear high up in the sky while you’re upside down is definitely neat.

Thanks for that Honestly, the track editor is the kind of stuff you need to experience with to get better at. You can find tutorials on KZbin to at least understand the base stuff. You can make tracks with the F-Zero Execution Project or the F-Zero X: Expansion Kit game. You can quickly find files for the FZEP on the internet and it’s easier to set up, but the Expansion Kit editor is probably more user-friendly.

The easiest way is to play it on a N64DD emulator, but it can be a pain to set up. It's easier to make custom tracks with the F-Zero Execution Project, which is a similar track maker, to play them on a normal F-Zero X rom.

No, the Switch version is the regular F-Zero X. The Expansion Kit was never rereleased.

You can watch a tutorial on the F-Zero Execution Project. It’s basically the Expansion Kit track builder, but on PC, so you can still get a general idea of how to build a track.

@@DavidZSM Nice ty for the suggestion! Ive got a few rom hacks so I know there had to be a PC track editor. F-Zero X is such a intense game, the learning curve is like, 1 to 10,000. Where a game like Mario Kart it's more like 1-100, there are sooooo many different levels of skill because of the high speed and intensity, that player skills differentiate VASTLY!

Took me absolutely weeks to work out how to use it properly, but honestly you get to know the symbols and stuff it's not too bad. There used to be a guide on Google with a translation which helped :)
