JESSI COLTER- I'M NOT LISA 1308pm 25.8.24 i am not a marine vet have no conception of the need to create or engage with conflict but find the fact killdozer murdered some simpering, and at times, odd songs amazingly interesting... yes, killdozer did murder this song - wonderfully well. i doubt even the most drunk or avidly stoned karaoke artiste could have dispatched with this song as that band did. anyhow you could find yerself crying into your whisky tumbler of a sunday morning at 1.47am as the country piano forte version slithers out the stereo or, like me, think the world's shit and requires some parity dishing out as killdozer belts out the stereo at, say, 2.17am of a sunday morning.... your choice.

I've never been big on blue grass, but I love the old country like Jennings, Cash, Hoyt Axton and George Jones. This song never fails to choke me up, takes me back to my days when I was all alone and wished someone wanted me like she wants that guy. It all worked out, married 40+ years now.

Back in the ‘80’s, here in South Carolina, I used to sing this song on the weekends with a little country/blue grass band at a weekend roadside place with a stage. Lots of local bands gathered there to fellowship & hear country, gospel & bluegrass. I sang mostly the old songs, & those from Loretta & Dolly, but the song that was most requested was I’m not Lisa from Jessi Colter. In fact people who requested it every weekend could not remember my name, but they’d see me in town in the grocery store, or at the gas station & yell across the parking lot, “HEY! You’re not Lisa!” One day my daughter asked if I cared that none of them could remembered my name, & I told her it was an honor to be remembered at all. I can’t think of a better song to be remembered for. It will always be one of my favorites.

If people would take the time to really listen to a country song they would hear stories being told. One of those songs could be telling their story
