Vince, told me that he was given a typewriter to take with him. Can you imagine carrying that into battle? He said it quickly went overboard before he left the boat.
@mattycreative6 ай бұрын
Holly...that's amazing! What's interesting is today in my local paper, the author shared stories of reporters who recall accompanying heroes like Vince on to the shore at Normandy...many of them dragging typewriters!

Protestant, here. I was raised in an ethnic church, and still belong to one. I always take an interest in other ethnic Christian communities. I think that the pinnacle of any society, any culture is how they worship the Lord. I love to see these traditions being maintained so many thousands of miles and hundreds of years from their places of origin. We're blessed with an abundance of such things here in Northeast Ohio. I would've liked to have seen the Carpatho-Rusyn clerical garb, too.

I appreciate you checking out the video! You're right. Having lived in other parts of the country, we're truly blessed to have so much ethnic and cultural diversity in our area. Thanks!

@@mattycreative I am slightly envious of the vibrancy that seems to exist in so many Slavic churches, particularly. Church, food, language, music, folk traditions all seem to be important. I presume it must be down to to more recent immigration.

Crazy how he couldn't dress like a Byzantine priest this one time
@mattycreative4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video! Well, I think he does dress like a Byzantine priest....during Divine Liturgy. I wouldn't expect him to sit for an interview in vestments designed and meant for the solemnity of the DL. Thanks for checking it out!
@magiccitymelkite61613 жыл бұрын
@@mattycreative I believe they were referring to what a Byzantine priest wears outside Liturgy, the cassock, etc., not vestments.

I was fortunate enough to know Mr. DiBacco, and he was indeed a humble and beautiful man of God. We honor him for his valiant service to our nation, and for this recording...the best first-hand account of D-Day that I have ever heard. I will say the rosary for him tonight, as it is no coincidence that he has died today, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Go with God, Mr. DiBacco. Thank you for beating back the Nazis and their evil and helping win World War II.

I've been here a few times with a buddy, and the atmosphere is that of a good friend's basement "man-cave"..complete with dart board, air hockey table, and familiar faces. Eli makes you feel right at home, as if you're one of the regular cast members on the old sitcom Cheers. Of course, I wouldn't bother writing this if the beer was anything less than "good". Fear not, wayward sailor, the beer is top-notch! There always seems to be something on tap for everyone, and I'd be surprised if any first time visitor left without buying a growler of their favorite!
