Hearing her now so far from the late 60s when I would listen over and over to her early albums as a teenager it has been a journey worth being with her on. Her Barotone guitar is so complimentary of her like the finest red wine.🍷 ❤

This is Joni at her best! I'm SO disappointed The Nobel-committee didn't award her this years prize in literature . There should also be a prize for managing 50+ guitar-tunings!!

@hansemannluchter6432 ай бұрын
Yes.. It's a "Parker Fly". Into a Roland VG-8 pedal, and often a Roland Jazz-Chorus 120 amp. The VG-8, a guitar-synth, was used to emulate the tunings. Joni used more than 50 alternate tunings.

My next door neighbor, Heidi, turned me on to Joni with Court and Spark in 1974, when I was 15, and she, along with David Bowie (whom I discovered on my own two years previous) became integral to who I've become as a person. David taught me to be fearless, to be true to myself, and to not pay heed to those critical of me, while Joni taught me introspection, to pay attention to and feel my emotions, and to be honest with myself. And she made me aware of the dichotomous nature of life. The two artists combined gave me the ability to be free, to be myself, and to experience life, both the inner and outer worlds, as living art, as an ever unfolding act of creation being experienced by and propagated through my perceptions, thoughts, feelings, and actions. With Joni back on Spotify now, I've made made four playlists of her music. This is the link for the first one, which I call Coyote Barangrill. Feel free to add it to your Spotify library. You can access the rest of my playlists by doing a search on Spotify of my username, davidstardust. open.spotify.com/playlist/6mCishY65oNFr5kBnTprJe?si=d330bc5f6c0a4c60

My first sweetheart was 16, and I was 15.. I played "Hejira" for her, and that settled it.. We stayed together for 6 years, and it wasn't me who broke up..
@TVC15ohoh2 ай бұрын
@@hansemannluchter643 The fact that you, at the age of 15, had the wherewithal and sensitivity to know of and appreciate Hejira, speaks well of you, and though the loss of your first sweetheart was undoubtedly one of the most painful and heartbreaking ordeals you ever went through in your life, and one that causes causes you a degree of discomfort to this day, allow me to suggest two things: 1) you were too good for her and 2) the girl you ultimately connected with WAS worthy of the love, sensitivity, and awareness you carry within. I hope this note finds you happy, healthy and at one with the many wonderful blessings your life has brought you.

April 2024 here. The determination Joni has is out of this world. When she had the stroke, they said she’d never walk or talk again nor sing. Yet, there she was standing and singing for Elton John’s Gershman award live on PBS the other day!😊

Even a relatively simple drum set can be made to sound like a melody instrument (or even a mini orchestra). Yes, Brian Blade plays the drums like no other, and IMO is the most innovative drummer since Tony Williams. And, of course, Joni’s genius is brilliantly displayed here.
