I was also surprised so I browsed back a few times to listen it again, until I got it. Is simply astonishing, he breaks with the tradition where everyone gets sur excited and bangs the scales out of no where. He plays them in an interrogative manner, very melodically and it convinced me. It helps also that he waits a bit more than usual, so is perceived as a cadenza. Beside, when you hear all the concerto, it is a matter of conception, he is in a permanent dialog with the orchestra, using dynamics to dilute in and out when music requires it. For me is the most refreshing available version, especially because it tries another approach but not just for the sake of.

OH QUE SAUDADE DOS CONCERTOS PARA PIANO E ORQUESTRA DE MOZART. OS CONCERTOS PARA PIANO DE BEETHOVEN NÃO TEM VERDADEIRA ARTE, INSPIRAÇÃO E MELODIAS CRISTALINAS CHEIAS DE BELEZA E ESPIRITUALIDADE QUE A MÚSICA DE MOZART TEM SEMPRE. ESSE CONCERTO No 3 DÁ TÉDIO E VONTADE DE TROCAR POR OUTROS CONCERTOS NÃO SÓ DE MOZART, MAS TAMBÉM POR CONCERTOS DOS COMPOSITORES DO ROMANTISMO COMO: CHOPIN, MENDELSSOHN, LISZT, BRAHMS E SAINT-SAENS.

This performance of Beethoven's 4th Piano Concerto was nothing short of extraordinary. Kantorow’s interpretation brought a fresh brilliance to the piece, showcasing both technical mastery and emotional depth. The delicate phrasing and nuanced dynamics highlighted Beethoven's lyrical qualities, making the entire experience captivating. It's a performance that truly resonates and redefines this classic work.
