Hello, when exposing the plate for the final time (to cure the plate) does the plate stick to the glass? I've had issues with this and not sure how to resolve. Also could you say what oil you use prior to printing?
@printmakingatnewcastleuniv1180Күн бұрын
I would hair dry it or leave it over night to dry once dried I would use any oil, even olive oil works rub it and then take excess of with a paper and it is ready to print.

Great video. Thank you! Do you have to make a new dabber each time that you ink an object or can you reuse a dabber (same color) at another time.
@erikaservin Жыл бұрын
You can use the same for each colour, although I tend to have different sizes depending on the object I am working on.

It's really lovely to see that somebody has taken the trouble to share this wonderful technique here on You Tube. When I was taught this technique at DCA print Studio(Scotland),the paper was sprayed (fine mist)initially with water that had rice starch mixed into it. THAT made the difference (i.e. stiffness/rigidity) so it did not fall flat....so that where one wished to IT DID MAINTAIN ITS 3D form as part of the final print artwork. Hope you will post some more videos.

Thanks for your comment Aine, it mis very useful. I think some papers have enough starch in them and some will need more but it makes sense to have the paper sprayed with the rice starch. There is a Mexican that does magnificent works with Takuhon her name is Mercedes Lopez.
@kitsutherland64452 жыл бұрын
@@printmakingatnewcastleuniv1180 Currently in Schio, Italy, Mercedes Lopez' work is on display at the Di Carta/Papermade show. The small items are feather weight and made using irregular shapes. They are very beautiful and intriguing and had our art group, Casa di Irene guessing as to how they were made. I can imagine that the ephemeral lightness of the sculptures just begs to be made into mobiles. Thanks for sharing!

@@kitsutherland6445 Mercedes is a wonderful printmaking artist from Oaxaca, I am glad you had the opportunity to see her Takuhon pieces. She has an exquisite taste in colour and forms.

How much rice starch was added to the water for misting the paper?
@digitalbrayer Жыл бұрын
@@Artgirl-ig3xr I don't have the instructions to hand and am very busy at the moment - I would estimate that about 1 teaspoons of rice paste added to half pint of hot water would be good to go. I would gradually 'whisk -in' the boiling hot water to the rice paste, until it was integrated with the hot water. Then allow it to cool to 'room-temperature' before using it in the Taku Hon process.
