Great video! I do agree that Frank Robinson is one of the most undervalued Hall of famers in the hobby for sure, and he is a tier one. Love the Fran Tarkenten card as well.
@VintageCardVoyage15 күн бұрын
Yeah, don't really understand why Frank Robinson doesn't get more hobby love, but I guess he was just overshadowed during the '50s and '60s by guys like Mantle, Mays and Aaron and that feeling continues to carry over.

I don’t think there’s a card in here that I would kick out of my collection - excellent eye appeal all around! The centering on Schmidt/Brett/Yount particularly. Great stuff!

The pitcher with the most pitching victories after the age of 40 is Phil Niekro (121). Jamie Moyer is next (105). And Nolan Ryan is 7th on the list (71).

I did think of Moyer because he pitched for so many years, but for whatever reason, Niekro didn't come to mind. Appreciate the info!

Great breakdown, not sure who I favor but they love putting people in just after they die for some reason. Tiant is on record has having said, "If you want to elect me after I'm dead, don't bother." We'll see I guess.

For vintage cards, people have been ranking in this order. National > Philly Show > Strongsville >= Chantilly. I haven’t been to Burbank yet and hear Dallas is very modern.
@VintageCardVoyageАй бұрын
Surprised that Strongsville isn't closer to the top. Hopefully will have the chance to find out what it's like one of these years.

Those 1950’s Calhoun cards you mention are pretty cool. I thought about getting a few of them since they seem to be an affordable set of cards.
@VintageCardVoyage2 ай бұрын
And getting cards from the 1950s that are affordable is never a bad thing.
@mookiechillson2 ай бұрын
I may be wrong - but what I hear you describing is a slump specifically related to acquiring new cards… Which I can totally relate to! But I would say that there are several other facets to a collecting journey that I focus on when purchasing is slow (or non-existent). I use those quiet times to organize and work on displaying my collection. I also use it to inventory and think critically about the cards I do own … and why I own them. Should I consolidate funds by selling cards? I never stop buying undervalued cards that I can turn into extra funds. And I also love consuming content about cards thru conversation with friends and thru hobby media. All of this helps fill the voids when I’m not in acquisition mode, and helps sustain my interest in the hobby!
@KenChen212 ай бұрын
@mookiechillson thank you for your thoughts, you have great advice. I have also used the Quiet times to think about my collection, to step back and organize, sell things I don't really need/want, and to refocus. I will do that again now. My Grail list had been shrinking, but I can build a new one.

I love the graphic to start - you two have a great collecting relationship to be able to pick each other’s set build! Excellent and diverse pickups at the end! The Japanese movie tickets particularly were a revelation. I’ll have a new pickup video coming soon - but I got a 1962 Menko Larry Doby from his short tenure in Japanese baseball!
