Instead of a spacer, you can just cut your caliper bracket in two pieces, bolt everything up. clamp the caliper to the rotor with its perspective half of the bracket bolted to it , then weld the two pieces back together. hope that made sense.

I see what you mean, yes could be another option!

I have a question, why did you run the weld down hill on the shock towers, instead of running the weld uphill? It would be a lot stronger than the downhill weld.

Great video! A suggestion that you probably have solved by now and that is start you lead in cut either at one of the corners or in the curve that is gonna be welded. I don't know anything about the Crossfire but using my 15 year old homebuilt with Cambam, I can move the lead in cut anywhere that I want to. I am impressed with your Crossfire and your plasma cutter! Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I use Sheetcam for programming the tool path and have started lead in on those sections to keep the visible surfaces cleaner. Thanks for the tip!

On this type setup, what keeps the nose of the differential from pointing up and down while accelerating?
@alpinefab10 күн бұрын
That would be the separation of the lower and upper links. The axle is trying to wrap but the triangulation from the upper and lowers will prevent that. Typically the rule of them is have the distance for axle side mount upper and lower to be 25% of your tire diameter.

@alpinefab I am going to try and upload a video clip of what is happening with my 4 link jeep I recently purchased
@alpinefab I am living in the Philippines. I purchased a 1943 Willys jeep that has been converted to 4 link suspension (front and rear). The transfer case, and both front and rear axles are from a Samurai.

Do i need the hi steer or im fine with biger pitman arm? Samurai on 30-31" +3" suspension and +1" bidy lift? Car is everyday and very rare off road
@alpinefabАй бұрын
Sorry I can’t help with that one, depends on the setup and components! I did not have hi steer on my samurai when it was on 31s with spring over axle.

Nice job.. i miss working on my Samurai on toyota axles and 36" swampers. I had a stroke on 2/1/2024 and it robbed me of my whole right side. i've regained about 50% of my ability to walk, talk, and use my right arm. its coming back to me and with a a lot of hard work i'll be hitting the trails again in 2025.
