I’ve completely lost trips to the I Love Toy Trains store!

12:51 Actually, one part of the Hudsons is still around today: No. 5313's tender. Both the engine itself, and its sibling No. 5311, were sold to the Toronto, Hamilton & Buffalo Railroad and were renumbered 501 and 502. After the engine itself was sadly retired and scrapped in the mid-50's, they kept the tender and converted it into a steam generator car for use on passenger trains. It's preserved today at Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania, still as a steam generator car, but repainted to its original New York Central black livery, plus white lettering and number.
@thecaledoniansleeper26488 күн бұрын
@@TKSP4449 Yes, technically the tender that’s converted into a steam generator was the only exception. But that’s all we got out of the New York Central Hudsons. On the bright side, we’ll be seeing the return of a different New York Central locomotive, the Mohawk #3001.
@TKSP44498 күн бұрын
@@thecaledoniansleeper2648 I know. It'll be nice to see a New York Central steam engine in operational condition again. Still, hopefully in the not-too-distant future, the Hudsons will receive the new build/replica treatment.

@thecaledoniansleeper26482 ай бұрын
@@JuddKramer You said it! 1997 is the year that TM Books & Video had changed forever. They’re really stepping up their game with their train videos, and they even started to upgrade Parts 1-3 every couple of years or so. The 97 versions were the most definitive. In fact, I consider 1997-2008 to be the golden era of TM Books & Video imo. Because many of the videos that they’d produced during that time were amazing. Especially their kids videos like ILTT, All About Cowboys or John Deere.

I don’t know how he died, but I am glad that he didn’t die young and could live a good long life being a producer of toy trains. Just like you, TM was my introduction to trains. But unlike you, I saw I Love Toy Trains before Thomas and friends which is why I started watching that series later. And that makes my love of trains feel so special to me! And I am glad that I did get to meet Tom before his passing, especially since it was an expecting for me when I took a trip to Hesston! While it is sad to hear about his death, we can all remember that he had a lot of fun times during his life. Sure, his life was not perfect like always. But he did a lot of great things for him, his family, and all of his fans. I’m sure Jeff feels sad for the loss of his father, and I do hope someday that he and the remaining crew members of TM Books and Video eventually make a tribute to him
