Ancora oggi non so cosa dicessero quelle due donne che cantavano, e a dire la verità non lo voglio sapere: ci sono cose che non devono essere spiegate. Mi piace pensare che l'argomento fosse una cosa così bella da non poter essere espressa con delle semplici parole. Quelle voci si libravano nell'aria ad un'altezza che nessuno aveva mai osato sognare. Era come se un uccello meraviglioso fosse volato via dalla grande gabbia in cui eravamo facendola dissolvere nell'aria. E per un brevissimo istante tutti gli uomini di Shawshank si sentirono liberi.

Sublime piece of course and eternal beauty, but typical of nowadays interpretations, where the singers are not serving music, but use music for self-image. The soprano's fake gestures, looking at the camera, we don't feel the characters they are supposed to be. The camera moving all the time as if a human face was boring. We are far from the tradition of service to the music, serving the role and humility of the true great artists people have admired for centuries.
