Great and helpful video! Where is the dipstick on the YM2? I have a C&C30 and the engine is not easily accessible. Any help would be appreciated.

I rebuilt the top end head etc as the motor blew the head gasket. So the oil had to be removed. If you remove the water pump bracket the sump plug is just behind on the front of the sump you need a 19 mm socket. Then open oil comes out very easy.

I haven't noticed the replacement of the primary fuel filter - the author replaced only secondary one while simply draining the primary filter (what for?) Also recommend to show de-aeration of the whole fuel pipeline when the primary filter is being replaced.

Besides, I'd strongly recommend to replace the air silencer with an automobile zero-resistance air filter and to install a large automobile diesel oil filter before the low-pressure fuel pump. Then checking and replacing of this small red fuel filtering element will simply become unnecessary. There is always some dust and/or fine particles in the air inside the boat, so the good automobile filter will extend the motor's lifetime.

Hey, the pump impeller is being installed wrongly. The Manual INSISTS on installing it while rotating the pulley CLOCKWISE to position the blades correctly. Here I see the blades being bended in the opposite direction. Of course, then the blades will self-position themselves, however while doing that they'll overbend causing the cracks.

This is the best video I've seen so far on repairing a Force 10 stove. I had to figure out how to disassemble and repair ours on my own and wish I'd had this as a primer. Ours is an older stove, apparently Force 10 changed burner designs 3-times in the last 3 decades, but the idea is the same. It's great to de-mistify repairing these stoves as there's no one out there to do it for you when you're cruising. I have heard of a shop that would rebuild one in Langkawi, Malaysia but that's about it. Even though our stove is older and the burners and valves are different, I feel confident we'd be able to replace those components with new should we need it. In the meantime keeping it clean and the valves working is all it needs.

@@Unwrittentimeline Thank you, Lisa! My materials and book arrived yesterday and I made the Q flag and started on Bahamas - but just the blue/yellow/black portion of it. I'm still researching if the red/white portion is 'required' or not. If it is, I got some practice in at least. There is so much conflicting information and sites selling courtesy flags of this version or that version. In any case, for Bahamas, I may have two :) I've been sewing just a bit over the years. I made some marine pillows with piping last year and they came out great! Are you still cruising - where are you now? Thanks again for your informative video!
@Unwrittentimeline
@Unwrittentimeline Жыл бұрын
@Donald Cheatham that's great your pillows came out. Piping can be tricky. The flags are hard to discern, it depends on the source. We have two Bahamas flags because I found out they are their own government no longer under British rule. But, they are or were in 2019 chill about boats using either one. Unfortunately we are not cruising. Covid put us stateside for 2 years. One thing led to another work-wise and here we are today proud owners of a marina in North Carolina. We bought Point Marina in Whortonsville, NC. Lots of work to do so we will be stateside for awhile. We do still live full time on our boat though.

@@Unwrittentimeline Point Marina - Wow - congratulations. I just looked it up on Google Maps. When I head down that way, perhaps I'll stay a night or two. I just sent a message to Bahamas Customs - I guess I'm going a bit overboard (no pun intended) :):)

Okay - they are quick! Just got a reply from The Bahamas... they said 'Good afternoon. The second option with the Bahamian flag in the top left is the correct courtesy flag.' So... back to the drawing board for me, but it was great practice :)

I'd like to know if I need to remove all the coolant from my engine before I open the heat exchanger
@Unwrittentimeline
@Unwrittentimeline 2 жыл бұрын
No you don't need to drain Coolant. If you remove just the end caps no Coolant will come out. However under the endcaps are O rings front and back. If you remove those o rings surrounding the heat exchanger Coolant will come out. So if you pulp the whole core out yes. If you leave it together and clean it as I did then no. Thanks for watching.

dumb question on hook up. step 1 close sea cock and then attach one end to sea water intake. the attach other hose to the exhaust hose where it discharges water overboard. That way the barnacle buster cleans the entire coolant system? Am I correct?

My issue with this is even with experience I didn't see you really explain as someone else mentioned removing the outlet from the exchanger and returning it to the bucket somebody May end up not realizing pumping this vile stuff through the exchanger only to be pumping it into their exhaust in a non running engine which might end up making it into the exhaust ports and cylinders which would be very nasty. You must remember people that are watching this have never done what you are doing some have done much less and if you're not specific there will be issues.. also in some cases you are better off back flushing to get any bits and pieces out like you said from the tubes putting it in through the exchanger outlet and returning it to the bucket from the inlet

Blah Blah Blah. You will not be able to bareboat charter after these courses. Your experience in your logbook as a skipper will let you rent the boat and after these courses your skippering experience is ZERO. Oh no? Just ask your instructor to take out the boat on your own and see what response you get. The charter company wants to see how much time you have as skipper, not as a crew member under instruction. Take these courses and others to learn to sail yes, absolutely, but don't believe for one second you're taking a boat out on your own.

How do you ground it?
@Unwrittentimeline
@Unwrittentimeline 2 жыл бұрын
Excellent question when talking about these type of generators in the marine environment. On a vessel all sources of power get grounded at the source of power. On a installed generator the generator power is grounded to the generator. It may also have a case ground that is connected to the vessels ground bus bar. You could also use the grounding stud on the generator with a grounding wire to the vessels ground bus bar like a case ground for an installed generator. These generators are not specifically permitted by organizations such as ABYC. I ground this generator by using a jumper between the neutral and ground on the second outlet. This gets rid if the reverse polarity fault as well. I make no guarantees this is an electrically safe option on a vessel. I also live in the real world where about 70% of vessels in this size range carry one of these aboard every day without setting their vessel on fire. Use a setup like this at your own discretion. Thanks for the comment.
