Chuck Palahniuk was such a good writer that, along with brad pitt of course, he created a character that is so charismatic that most people don't even realise Fight Club is a critique of those characters, a dark-satire and Tyler Durden wasn't supposed to be someone you should be looking up to lol

I think Fight Club is telling a spiritual story. The narrator is engaged in some kind of “spiritual materialism” with his yin-yang table and sterile office life. Then, as with prince Siddhartha, he leaves his safe environment and experiences ageing, sickness and death. But the guided meditations don’t bring relief and he creates a false ego in Tyler and tries to punish his body and give up material possessions. Still no good. Eventually he realises that to achieve true enlightenment (and not the premature enlightenment that Tyler refers to) he must kill his ego, dis-illusion himself and encounter reality for what it truly is.

This is totally the opposite of Tyler's philosophy. He believed in terrible everything. And from thereon, you do whatever you want to do, be who you want to be. The last thing Tyler would preach about is caring about what other people think, like respect, being fit, wearing nice clothes and owning material things.

“The antidote to suffering is not happiness, it’s meaning”. This single line hits harder than anything. Recently the absence of meaning of pretty much anything has been grinding me down. I delved into religion and philosophy, only to find that the real answer is the painful realisation that there is no meaning. I don’t have a big purpose to fulfil. There is no reason for this all. So, i must make one for myself.

My friend, my purpose is to help young men of this generation with the struggle of demasculinization. Find your purpose by trying out a lot of experiences. Like travelling or meeting new people. Gain knowledge and I promise you, you’ll find your purpose. But beware, the devil lurks in every corner. Don’t take drugs and don’t fall for depression.

Men have to understand that women sinned first and got the man to follow suit; stop following women. It's time for men to march to the beat of our drum, and not some sound coming from double D bongos.

I am an introvert out of choice not inherently, I speak and interact with those around me who pique my interest (from observation). I don't talk just for the sake of conversation. I don't desire attention or admiration. I might seem narcissistic because I keep explaining things about myself however; I am trying to paint a picture of why it's important for me to be solitude. A majority of people I have interacted with in life are boring to me and I prefer to not torture myself or them. I am not cold because it saves me trouble or attracts the opposite gender; I am indifferent because I simply don't care.

That was so... totally opposite of Tyler! LOL Self-improvement is masturbation, but self-destruction...
@FatherhoodAITeaching10 ай бұрын
He says that it is masturbation because you do it to impress others. You train to impress the girl in your school. You read self improvement books to Impress your classmates. That is ok but If you truly work on yourself just for yourself in fact it is not related to masturbation at all. Of course he wants you to self improve. But for yourself.

@FatherhoodAITeaching10 ай бұрын
Yes, Abigail was a former prostitute. Even though she changed, the gang members in the second game reminded him of her past. I'd also say that not his arrogance, but his other traits, reflect the masculine characteristics of John, especially his courage and fearlessness in the face of physical confrontation and the way he speaks. But I’d encourage you guys to take a closer look at Arthur Morgan and the way he acts. In order to be the way they are, you have to be surrounded by masculine roles. I’ll make a video on this in the future. I hope you'll grow strong, brother!

This is kind of the antipathy of what Tyler Durden was about. He didn't demand respect. He didn't care about respect. He was a nihilist who rejected any conformity to societies expectations which is in reality how you earn respect. By being willing to toe the line. He was respected by the losers he took into his circle because he offered them something. In terms of most people in general however he was pretty indifferent towards them.
@FatherhoodAITeaching11 ай бұрын
Agreed. He wanted to bring life out of you. Give it meaning instead of wasting it
