Appam with coconut and orangey sugar is a unique combination. Appam is native to South India, particularly Kerala, where I come from. Have had the famous Cendols of Penang. Tried it once in Singapore, but did not like it. The one you had looks good. Cheng Tng and versions of it are available in Chinese territories, but I have had a lot of it in Bangkok. Love it!!!

Otak-Otak. Gado-Gado. Nice-Nice. Is Gado-Gado a cold salad?

The texture of the Congee looks good. Very Cantonese. I love Youtiao, but I prefer rice rolls/cakes with Congee, when I am in HK. I am yet to taste Congee in Singapore. I will stay away from the Teochew version though. That looks more like the Kanji that we Indians eat when we are sick.

Looks good. My dear fellow, please sprinkle the lime in the beginning. You tend to put it much later, more like an afterthought. I can always skip the sambal, but never the lime.

Yo, Getting Lost! I am returning to your channel after a while. You're right. The Hokkien Mee is too watery! If you don't do something the traditional way, it doesn't matter if the broth is delicious or not, it will be a let-down. I love Penang food, but there are two dishes I prefer Singapore over Penang: Hokkien Mee and Laksa. I find the Penang versions to be way more pungent for my taste.
