At that time the USSR was in a campaign against Jazz/Swing/Big Bands because they are "Decadent West Trends" this ended once Stalin died and Krushev rise to power as well denounced Stalin Totalitarian shit when in 1957 the USSR host the Student and Youth Festival they become somewhat relaxed about trends like Rock 'n' Roll or even Bubble Gum.

@@Sheepdoggo98 thank you! That’s a good, and accurate comment. The Soviet campaign against jazz music was very bizarre since USSR had some history of its own jazz type of music. They also loved to advocate for the plight of the black Americans (in my opinion not out of real concern for African Americans but as propaganda) but somehow they rejected their jazz music.

So. . .is it racist or not? - I barely find it hardly offensive, aside from possessing a message that back then was meant to be. . .of course part to bring benefits to the country that made it, but I honestly didn't find anything racist here! I am racist or. . .?

I find something really peculiar in the music at 0:38, it gives a particular mood, between nostalgia and innocence, it really feels like childhood and at the same time gives me a strange feeling. I really like how it sounds

I doubt they wanted to be racist since Soviet propaganda was trying (and succeeding) in making Black Americans a sort of fifth column, and of course getting Africans on their side
