Great suggestions, Sergio - another idea might be to take a walk in a park, forest, nature center and let Mother Earth inspire you!

Thank you Sergio! a great reminder to have some stories ready - confidence that you are the expert is very helpful tip. We must have figured out the meaning or the art is less soul moving.

I love this episode, thanks for all the cool inspiration! I find there is so much inspiration in the kitchen. Yes, egg has been used in paint for thousands of years, but it's amazing what you can do with it when it is heated. And simple things like the film that sticks to the pot formed from freshly made oatmeal, or even the amazing geometric shapes from turning fruit inside out. In some ways it's even better that we are adults now, because even though my mother was an artist herself, I don't think she would have been too happy with me playing with my food in such a way as a kid 😂 but then I also think she would be impressed with some of the things I found❤

He left out signing the front of your work with your full name or first initial and full last name followed by the copyright symbol. Signing the back of your paintings/2-d works is perfect for someone to capture/steal or claim your images as theirs. Your bill of sale should have a clause about you/the artist retains Copyrights to work... I prefer watermarks. Now we have filters to put over images which can help distort the full/"pure" view of the art.
@michaelplishka-zenstorming13 күн бұрын
Any other thoughts for photographs? Perhaps using software that puts it in a frame and then puts it on a wall? I was just reading that many of the more famous photographers don't watermark either online as it can detract from the photo. Thanks!

2:35 I came across this video by chance, and I’m really glad I did. As someone with autism, my main focus isn’t on making money. Instead, I’m passionate about collaborating, starting new projects, and meeting new people. I love making crochet content, and any earnings I make will be reinvested into other projects. You’ve given me hope, and I appreciate that.

Also accept that many calls (fee or no fee) most will not contact artists to let them know they weren't selected. It's usually a given that if you didn't get in you won't receive any notification especially if the notification deadline has passed.
@sergiogomezart29 күн бұрын
yes true. Most good calls for artists will mention in the application the process of notification. Thanks for sharing

Living in Central Illinois, I can relate to the viewer who posed this question.. But, Chicago isn't that far away. Your talk really helps motivate me to make a few more trips there a year. Thanks so much for your insight. I can say what I've seen in your videos definitely works. But it takes as you say, planning.
@sergiogomezart29 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Yes indeed, it requires planning. I suggest to make the trip to Chicago in the Spring and the Fall. Check out Chicago Gallery News website to find ut when the gallery kick off events are and when is a good time to go according to most events, particularly Chicago Art Expo in the Spring.

How exactly do I use that information if I know my target audience? How do I change my approach to advertisement etc to a specific, already defined group? The tip to define your audience is nice but what am I doing with that after I have done so?
@sergiogomezart29 күн бұрын
Great question. Once you define who your audience is, then you need to work hard to answer the question, where does my audience live online? In other words, what Facebook groups are they art of? what Instagram accounts do they follow? What videos do they watch? and most importantly, how do I get in front of them. The answer is joining groups and communities where your target audience is at.

Hang height is SO KEY! I actually recommend a lower than 60 inch hang, but that's just me :) it's so personal! This is a fantastic video, and what's so key in addition to the practicalities of installation is thinking of the curatorial meanings and significance of the combination of works!

This is useful. In fact because in my state, there is a mainstream tendecy of galleries, curators, talks. It´s all very aligned with the federal goverment. And I don´t see in any way my art fitting there. I do made friends in other areas outside of my city. More "underground" galleries that I do align with and I am acquantanced. I consider them more "friends" than for working. I look forward to move out also. But not in the near future.
@sergiogomezart29 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Yea, you have to check what makes sense for you and where your art can fit. It is not always easy and takes some creative thinking.
