I love Dr.Trudeau❤ She’s truly amazing!! I’m so afraid of the dental work from prior experiences and she makes me feel so comfortable EVERY time! I have been going to her this past year and all my interactions have been amazing! I skipped out on dental work because of fear and now after seeing her, I’m finally able to address them and get those issues taken care of. She’s patient and listens, I never feel like I am asking too much or doing too much and I never feel that she is in a hurry! 10/10 Definitely recommend.

20 years back i was faced w/ an op for a brain tumor. this was my 1'st ever op. and i was terrified. sweating it out for the 6 weeks until my date in the OR . 8 hours on the table and she got it all out. 1 , 2 , 5-yr MRIs all 'clean'. one notable thing about having survived it with minimal defecits was feeling bullet-proof facing a subsequent dental office visit. yeah , my attitude about the pain a dentist could cause me now had a new perspective. a more recent discovery is how well ibuprofin can mask out tooth pain. the way emepirin-3's used to . and w/o any of the opiate side effects.

I was 8 months pregnant when I had to have my wisdom tooth extracted. My obgyn approved it but had to send a fax to my DDS about what anesthesia to use and how much. They didn't use much anesthesia and I felt half the pain of the extraction, I held on to my DDS's elbow the whole time. I am pretty sure that I was my DDS's first pregnant patient😂 all he could do to comfort me while pulling my tooth out was say, "It's going away, it's going away, it's going away, it's going away, it's going away, it's going away, it's going away, it's going away, it's going away," To this day I wish I had asked my DDS if he was nervous about working on me😮

In my experience as a dental tech. the tech.very seldom sees the patient as the dentist sends down the impressions ,the lab does the work and sends up the fabricated appliance.The only time the tech.might see the patient is if their are problems.

Not really, my dad had a very close relationship with his dentists and would visit a lot of the appointments but of course in a mass producing lab this is not possible.

I 'm a Dental Tech. for over 50 year.10 years part owner of a commercial lab and the last 40+ at denture clinics.My personal preference is denture clinics where we look after our own patients from impressions to finish.I especially like bringing back smiles to patients who have lost their teeth due to chemo.or other sorts of trauma.

I have high blood pressure and I am on medication for it, and monitored by a primary care doctor. I just changed dental offices, and I was denied a “cleaning” because my blood pressure was high! I am a nurse, and explained to the dentist that taking my blood pressure with a wrist monitor will give an off reading, and it should be taking with a stethoscope and b/p cuff, of course they didn’t have any available, so they said I can not get a “cleaning” until they hear from my primary care doctor… There are multiple reasons of why blood pressure can be high! This was such an inconvenience to me, I could understand if I was have extractions or injections in my mouth, but for a routine 6 month cleaning that is ridiculous!

Kinda hard when u got ptsd from being wrapped in a blanket as a child to keep me still and then them almost dropping a instrument down my throat. The fear will never go away instant panic attack goin into the room
@elegrontv94037 ай бұрын
I know this is a year old, but you are not alone. When I was a child, I was strappped down against my will for a vaccination that I did not want to get, and seeing a doctor walk into the room with a syringe to this day feels like looking down the barrel of a shotgun. Tomorrow, I will go to my dentist for an implant, knowing that they will need to use needles to numb the area, and draw blood in order to make the implant. I made the appointment myself, and I put down a deposit on the appointment, setting the date in stone. This is going to happen, and it will be ok. This is not only my opportunity to overcome my fear of needles, but to overcome fear itself, as I need to be as strong as I can to weather the uncertainties of the future and trials to come. Tomorrow, I will conquer fear itself.
@SolidSnake4Ever20032 ай бұрын
@@elegrontv9403 thanks so much for this, I have very bad anxiety about the dentist, I hate how it feels when they inject the numbing needle it feels SO weird like you're getting shocked with electricity for a second or two. But like you said, if I can overcome the horrible fear I'll actually be extremely proud of myself. I need to get two bad ones pulled out soon, just waiting on the appointment. I think my fear comes from getting silver caps on my teeth as a kid in the early 90s, they had to put me to sleep. And then in my 20s getting a bad one out here and there with rough dentists at cheap places that didn't even bother numbing me all the way once on top of my horrible fear of the needle and the weird scary feeling of it injecting me. But, I heard with exposure therapy, a lot of the time fears can be overcome altogether or at least greatly lessened. I just keep telling myself in my mind, hey it'll be ok, you've had some pulled out before and while you don't care for the needle you really need to get these bad ones pulled out so they're not harming your health. And I really will feel very proud of myself and accomplished going to try and overcome my fear

I understand. But I think I need someone to talk to or lean on, my teeth or bad rn but at the same time I'm scared of going to the dentist because I'm scared of the judgment they will have against me. Plus its hard to keep with basic hygiene when depression comes and ruins it for you.

Done exactly the same thing. I’ve tried over the counter remedies for anxiety but they don’t work with dentists. Having work done Wednesday and I’m terrified. The dentist I had from 2004-2013 was the best , kindest , great bedside manner but he retired. Nobody since like him. I’m a senior with upper dentures and lower partial about to be extended. 3 extractions coming and I’m terrified. Miss my firmer dr.
