I dont understand the example with the word meryem. The ra got a sukun on it and the letter before it got a fatha. Therefore the ra is heavy and the letter before should be light because mim is a light letter. Then why we pronounce it as „maryem“ and not „meryem“

@ the question was more about the mim before it. Why do we say „ma“ instead of „me“. The mim is a light letter therfore it should be pronounced with me

Its not the maqamat but its acting upon what you are reciting in your life. Allah aza wajallah Will not ask you about the melody you used when you recited but application of it.
