@89autoworks5 ай бұрын
@06RHDSUBIEWAGON there’s so much more to it man! You don’t go rotated on a stock car, the whole point of being rotated is to fit a turbo that will not fit in stock location. That being said, bigger turbo, means bigger everything else, fuel system, FMIC, etc etc etc.

Sweet ride man! I always love to see more 80 series content, especially when it envolves the kids wanting to get their hand dirty wrenching with Dad. I just got all the parts for the front seal, oil pump gasket, , egr delete, valve cover/ valve/ plug seals, and all new cooling everything with rear heater bypass in my US spec '97. Plan is to address all current/ possible leaks and keep her cool. Then its on to AC, all bushings and steering rebuild. Wish me luck, I'll be following along with you guys for sure.
@52650606 ай бұрын
I just saw the ending :( To sympathize, I just bought $2k in parts alone for just oil leaks and a robust cooling system rebuild. My 1fz-fe seems healthy (fingers crossed/knock on wood), just a little dirty and tired. While I will give one good attempt at rehabilitating this engine, the real dream is a Cummins swap. Truthfully I love my 80, but my little green eyed monster is seething at the fact you blew yours on the first real drive and now you have all the options in the world to consider, But I try to be a "the glass half is full" kind of guy for my own mental health haha

As long as you’ve got everything installed properly, you will not need a tune. Me personally, I always wait to install things until we are going to the dyno already, but the AOS should require no alternative tuning. If you want to clarify that, just give IAG a ring and they will tell you certainly one way or another.

Your right, the crossover is JDM! The original coolant crossover rusted out of the freeze plug on the back. I just replaced it 2 months ago and I've been waiting for this kit to come in. I didn't realize I bought a JDM version of that pipe so I can either toss this coolant pipe that I just got and order the USDM version or I can return this kit. I can tell you right now I'm not about to tear the manifold down and throw away a perfectly good crossover just to replace it with another one so I can fit a 90° elbow somewhere lol. Hopefully the return policy is good at Chase Bays hehe.

Piston shown clearly has overheating spots on it. Ringland failure is from lack of lubrication. aka low oil. The ej25 oil path has cylinder 4 being last to get oil, even the turbo is lubed before cyl 4. Low oil means more friction means more heat means ringland failure. 100% user error. These Subaru kids never check their oil level and it shows. Owned an 05 STI for 100k miles and had 0 issues. even did light mods like intake/exhaust with cobb accessport tune. Still no failure. "Well you were lucky" no i made sure to keep and eye on my oil level instead of being a fucking idiot. Subaru owners drive their car like they stole it but wont do proper maintenance and upkeep. and no i didn't "drive like grandma" and i also had many track days. Its the same story with honda s2000 rear ends. Its claimed "they can't handle launching or drifting, they always break" no idiots leave bad oil in the fucking differential which cant properlu lubricate the gears and this they overheat and break. I drove my 06 s2000 like i stole it, drifting on ramps and off ramps daily, even drifting backroads when no one was around. my diff never shattered. "Oh it will" the idiots claimed. More than half the issues people claim is common only have one thing in common, human ignorance and stupidity. The lacking of common sense.
